World of Warcraft players, with the release of the Burning Crusade expansion now have the World of Warcraft Jewelcrafting to create necklaces, rings, crowns and many other items that were previously only acquired from loot drops and quest rewards.

  As in Diablo II you can socket items to enhance your armor. The Jewelcrafting profession is used to carve gems to fit into sockets. You can increase armor enhancements by adding jewels to sockets the enhancement level is based on the type of jewels used. Most usable gems come from jewelcrafting although some dangerous monsters drop usable gems.

  An item can be socked by any character, socketing a jewel is the only change that can be made. You can't remove, change or add sockets. When you get get your jewel from a jewelcrafter soket the item by shift-right-clicking the item to be socketed a pop up window will appear drop the jewel in the socket you desire. Click the socket gems button and then create a new item. When you are exchanging one jewel for another the old jewel will be destroyed.  

   Jewecrafting should be paired with mining to enable you to acquire raw materials easily. A jewelcrafter can create rings and other jewelry to sale made with metal ores. At first it will be copper rings but other items will become available quickly. You can aquire a jewelcrafting kit for 8 silver. By finding an item that is readly made from the available resources and making it many times will drive your skill level up faster.

 Prospecting may be learn from the jewelcrafting trainer once you reach level 20. Prospecting will allow you to extract gems from ores you have mined. To increase your chance of finding gems for jewelry learn prospecting.

  Getting your score up to 300 as quickly as possible should be your goal. The path you take will be determined by what materials are readily available to you and the space you have in your inventory.
