World's Oldest Person is a Japanese
KAMA CHINEN, aged 114 years and 125 days old, born on May 10, 1895 in Okinawa, Japan was officially crowned as the World's oldest person in coordination with Dr. L. Stephen Coles of the Gerontology Research Group, a group which tracks claims of extreme old age. The Japanese people possibly considered this phenomenon a lucky event because this coincides with the Month of September where September 21 is one of their important holidays.
Kama Chinen took over the vacant seat left by GERTRUDE BAINES, 115, when she died of heart attack Friday, September 11, 2009 in LA, Calif. Gaines was born in Shellman, Georgia, April 6, 1894 when Grover Cleveland was U.S. President
The oldest person who ever lived- Coles said, was JEANNE - LOUISE CALMENT, who was 122 when she died August 4, 1997, in Arles, France. (COI)
