World’s Ugliest Animal – The Naked Mole Rat - And The Moray Eel
78Naked Mole Rat Of East Africa
The world’s ugliest animal is the naked mole rat of East Africa. Or is it the Moray Eel? The naked mole rat is also known as sand puppy as well as desert mole rat. The naked mole rat is a rodent. This rodent is able to thrive in harsh conditions. The Naked Mole Rat has no pain sensation on its skin and that coupled by the fact that it has low metabolism makes it survive in very hard conditions.
A Very Complex Social Structure
The Naked Mole Rat lacks neurotransmitters that are responsible for sending pain signals to the central nervous system. Just like bees, the naked mole rats have a very complex social structure where only one female (also called the queen) and one to three males reproduces, while the rest of the animals in the same colony operate as workers. The queen of the Naked Mole Rat can live for up to 18 years. If any other naked mole rat was to behave like the queen, the queen will become very hostile to that one. Upon the death of the queen other females will take her place but the winner is determined by violent struggle with her competitors. The gestation of a female naked rat is 70 days and will give birth to about 12 pups. The pups are fed on feces by other member of the colony until they are able to find for themselves. Whilst a naked mole rat lives for a very long period of twenty years or so, most of that time is spent sleeping.

Gave me the shivers just looking at it. I hope its mother loves it. If his mother lives, that is.
