01. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach is a city in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. Myrtle Beach is located in a region known as the Grand Strand, an area generally considered to stretch from Calabash, North Carolina in the north to Georgetown, South Carolina in the south. The population of the city was 22,759 at the 2000 census, with the metropolitan population counting in at 196,629. A 2005 estimate combining all three counties (Horry, Georgetown, and Brunswick, North Carolina) made the metro population 377,137, an increase from the 2000 metro population of 346,548.[citation needed]

Myrtle Beach is the largest city along the Grand Strand and the most populated and visited. It houses numerous attractions and other points of interests along the Strand.

02. Miami Beach, Florida

Miami Beach is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The city was incorporated on March 26, 1915.[1] Miami Beach has been one of America's pre-eminent beach resorts for almost a century. The city is often referred to under the umbrella term of "Miami," despite being a distinct municipality, making Miami and Miami Beach two separate cities. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 87,933. 55.5% of the population was foreign born.[2] A 2005 population estimate for the city was 87,925.[3]

03. Cancun, Mexico

Cancún (pronounced as IPA: [kanˈkun]) is a coastal city in Mexico's easternmost state, Quintana Roo.

It is the municipal seat of Benito Juárez municipality and a world-renowned tourist resort with modern beachfront hotels surrounded by Isla Mujeres ("Women Island"), the Caribbean Sea, and the Nichupte and Bojórquez lagoons. The mainland downtown commercial section (Cancún City), connected to the island by two bridges, has broad avenues lined with shops, restaurants, and hotels.

The older section of the city, which follows the original master plan, consists of neighborhoods called supermanzanas (superblocks) that are formed by the intersections of the boulevards. They are characterized by winding streets with cul-de-sacs that tend to keep out the main flow of traffic, and usually have one or more parks and other green spaces.

04. Kaanapali, Hawaii

Kāʻanapali is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaiʻi, United States. The population was 1,375 at the 2000 census. Kāʻanapali is located at 20°56′5″N, 156°40′46″W (20.934820, -156.679329)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 14.8 km² (5.7 mi²). 12.6 km² (4.9 mi²) of it is land and 2.2 km² (0.9 mi²) of it (15.03%) is water. Kāʻanapali's famous beach. As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,375 people, 537 households, and 380 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 109.2/km² (282.8/mi²). There were 1,775 housing units at an average density of 141.0/km² (365.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 80.07% White, 0.95% African American, 0.15% Native American, 7.42% Asian, 2.04% Pacific Islander, 1.96% from other races, and 7.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.55% of the population. There were 537 households out of which 20.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.4% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.1% were non-families. 16.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.73.

05. Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu is the capital as well as the most populous community of the State of Hawaii, United States. In the Hawaiian language, honolulu means "sheltered bay" or "place of shelter." The census-designated place (CDP) is located along the southeast coast of the island of Oahu. The term also refers to the District of Honolulu (see Geography below). As of July 1, 2004, the United States Census Bureau estimate for Honolulu puts the population at 377,260 and that of the city and county (essentially, the Island of Oahu) at 900,000. In Hawaii, local governments operate only at the county level, and the City & County of Honolulu encompasses all of the Island of Oahu (approximately 600 square miles).

06. San Diego, California

San Diego is a coastal Southern California city located in the southwestern corner of the continental United States. As of 2005, the city has a population of 1,256,951.[1] It is the second largest city in California and the eighth largest city in the United States. It is the county seat of San Diego County.GR6 and is the economic center of the San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos metropolitan area, the 17th-largest metro area in the U.S. with a population of 2.9 million as of 2006, and the 21st largest Metropolitan area in the Americas when including Tijuana (See San Diego-Tijuana Metro.).

San Diego County lies just north of the Mexican border-sharing a border with Tijuana-and lies south of Orange County. It is home to miles of beaches, a mild Mediterranean climate and 16 military facilities hosting the United States Navy, the United States Coast Guard and the United States Marine Corps

07. Boracay Island, Philippines

Located at the northwestern tip of Panay, this small island has meanwhile become the number one tourist destination of the Philippines.

It has also been voted in 1990 as one of the best beaches in the world by the BMW Tropical Beach Handbook. The British Publication TV Quick in its issue of December 21, 1996 gave the latest accolade for Boracay as the number one tropical beach in the world. The island roughly shaped like a dumb-bell, is 7 kilometers long and the narrowest spot is nearly 1 kilometer wide. The best part of the island is its 4 kilometer "White Beach", also called long beach by the locals. It is situated at the West Coast between the villages of Angol and Balabag, and some experienced travelers claim it to be the finest beach of all Asia. The water is shallow here, and its sand brighter and finer than most beaches in the archipelago. There are about 350 beach resorts with more than 2000 rooms to suit virtually everyone's taste. There is accommodation of all types and price categories. Aside from a bevy of resorts, Boracay boasts of a diverse selection of restaurants, ranging from the native fast-food stalls to establishments that would satisfy even a gourmet. One can find bars, beer joints as well as discos with amazing light and sound equipments open until the late morning hours. The White Beach may be the main attraction of Boracay, but there's much more, including watersports, beach volleyball, diving, snorkeling, motorbiking, mountainbiking, hiking, trekking, and even plain lazing around.

08. Key West, Florida

The city encompasses the namesake island, the part of Stock Island north of US-1 (the Overseas Highway) (east), Sigsbee Park (north, originally known as Dredgers Key), Fleming Key (north), and Sunset Key (west, originally known as Tank Island). Nearby Key Haven (northeast), the part of Stock Island south of US-1 (east) and Wisteria Island, better known as Christmas Tree Island (northwest), are in unincorporated Monroe County. Both Fleming Key and Sigsbee Park are part of the NAS Key West and are inaccessible by civilians. Key West is the county seat of Monroe County.GR6

Key West is known as the Southernmost City in the Continental United States. It is also the southern terminus of U.S. Route 1, State Road A1A and the East Coast Greenway.

Key West is 129 miles (207 km) southwest (229.9 degrees) of Miami, Florida,[1] (about 160 driving miles) and 106 miles (170 km) north northeast (21.2 degrees) of Havana, Cuba.[2] Cuba, at its closest point is 98 statute (85 nautical) miles due south.[3]

Key West is a seaport destination for many passenger cruise ships. The Key West International Airport provides airline service. Hotels and guest houses are available for lodging. Many restaurants offer a choice of indoor or outdoor dining.

Naval Air Station Key West is an important year round training site for Naval Aviation due to the superb weather conditions, which is also a reason the site was chosen as the Winter White House of Harry S. Truman.

09. Sydney, Australia

Sydney (pronounced /ˈsɪd.niː/) is the most populous city in Australia, with a metropolitan area population of approximately 4.28 million.[1] Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales, and is the site of the first European colony in Australia, established in 1788 at Sydney Cove by Arthur Phillip, leader of the First Fleet from Britain.[2] A resident of the city is referred to as a Sydneysider. Sydney is located on Australia's south-east coast. The city is built around Port Jackson, which includes Sydney Harbour, leading to the city's nickname, "the Harbour City". It is Australia's largest financial centre and is home to the Australian Stock Exchange. Sydney's leading economic sectors include property and business services, retail, manufacturing, tourism, and health and community services. Sydney is a major international tourist destination notable for its beaches and twin landmarks: the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. The metropolitan area is surrounded by national parks, and contains many bays, rivers and inlets. It has been recognised as a global city by the Loughborough University group's 1999 inventory.[3] The city has played host to numerous international sporting events, including the 1938 British Empire Games, 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities in the world which reflects its role as a major destination for immigrants to Australia.[4] According to the Mercer cost of living survey, Sydney is Australia's most expensive city, and the 21st most expensive in the world.[5]

10. Santa Barbara County, California

Santa Barbara County is a county located on the Pacific coast of the southern portion of the U.S. state of California, just west of Ventura County. As of 2000 the county had a population of 399,347. The estimated total population of Santa Barbara County as of January 2006 is 421,625, according to The California Department of Finance. The county seat is Santa Barbara. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 9,814 km² (3,789 mi²). 7,089 km² (2,737 mi²) of it is land and 2,725 km² (1,052 mi²) of it (27.77%) is water. Four of the Channel Islands--San Miguel Island, Santa Barbara Island, Santa Cruz Island and Santa Rosa Island-- are in Santa Barbara County. Santa Barbara County has a mountainous interior, and several important coastal valleys which contain most of the population. The largest concentration of people is on the south coast--the part of the county south of the Santa Ynez Mountains--which includes the cities of Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Carpinteria, as well as the unincorporated areas of Hope Ranch, Mission Canyon, Montecito and Isla Vista. North of the mountains are the towns of Santa Ynez, Solvang, Buellton and Lompoc in the Santa Ynez Valley, as well as Vandenberg Air Force Base, where the Santa Ynez River flows out to the sea. North of the Santa Ynez Valley are the cities of Santa Maria and Guadalupe, and the unincorporated towns of Orcutt, Los Olivos and Los Alamos. As of January 1, 2006, Santa Maria has become the largest city in Santa Barbara County ([3])
