Bad But Popular
There have been some excruciatingly bad movies made in the last - what, 80 years or so? That's a lot of opportunity for stupidity, crassness, propaganda or boredom onscreen.
For example, Godzilla 2000 was so boring to me that I fell asleep during the big fight scene between two gigantic film monsters. Maybe some people liked it.
I've seen many films in 2007 and the one I liked the least was
THE BROTHERS SOLOMON.

- Directed by Bob Odenkirk
- Writer(s) Will Forte
- DVD Release Date Dec. 26, 2007

- Subtitles - English, French, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai - Optional. Subtitles - English - Closed Captioned

- Cut Scenes
- Featurettes - 1. "The Fine Art of Creating a Specimen" and 2. "Extended Dressing Up Montage."
Now, on Saturday Night Live(SNL), Will Forte has entertained me quite a but with his George W. Bush impersonations. He portrays the man as goofy, but still likeable in a way, although pathetic. It's very funny. However, I just don't care much for him in any other role. SNL's Dana Carvey has stuck in my mind as Church Lady, but I enjoyed him in other skits and roles as well. However, for me, Forte has just one character that entertains me and that is W. My loss, maybe.
I just saw My Super Ex-Girlfriend and I thought that was pretty lame, but the Solomon's are my pick for worst of 2007. They discredit the name Solomon, as in Dick Solomon and the gang in 3rd Rock from the Sun. Will Forte was a writer on that show!
That reminds me - John Lithgow's portrayal of Dick Solomon will always be my favorite role from that actor, but I liked him in other parts - notably as Don Quixote. To me, Forte should be W - perhaps in commercials. Perhaps in a movie sending up the President after Mr. Bush leaves the Whitehouse.
Quotes from Dick Solomon
As good as Confucius -
- Guns don't kill people, physics kills people.
- A riddle wrapped up in an enigma fried and served with chinese dipping sauce.
- I have to perch on the teeth of death in order to peer down at the tonsils of enlightenment.
- Women. You can't live with them, yet they're everywhere.
- Not in the car, not in the bar, not in the house, not up your blouse, I cannot touch you here or there, I cannot touch you anywhere! [did Forte write this one?]
