Would You?
73Life And Death
At many times my mind wanders into some vast realms. I have questioned mankind and what we are capable of and what we would do in certain circumstances.
My idea here is to run a series of polls. I would appreciate honest answers. You will be completely anonymous as to your answers, unless you give them away in the comments.
Upcoming will be a separate hub explaining why I am doing this, the outcomes, and my position.
I, at this time, will not vote in any of these polls.
As you can see from the title of this chapter, this will be about life and death. Some questions will be quite graphic along with some of the pictures.
Your Child
You have a four year old child. As you stroll through the mall, a man grabs your child and holds a gun to them.
You have a loaded gun on your person. You draw and aim; you have a perfect head shot to the perpetrator:

Next Door Neighbor
Your next door neighbor, a widow, works at the local bank. She is just 3 weeks from retiring. You are in the bank waiting in line when a hold-up happens.
The widow, who is a diabetic, goes into a diabetic fit. One of the gunman syas that you can take her place as a hostage and she can leave; or you can leave:

Grocery Store
You are just finished shopping at your local grocer. On your way to your vehicle, one of the stock-boys is crossing and there is a vehicle careening out of control right at him.
You have the capability of saving this person you don't even know but you will more-than-likely get struck by the vehicle yourself:

The Mean Guy
Every town has one or two. Those people you just can't stand. They may be your local banker, the judge, or anyone else.
You have a concession stand at the local fair and this person is there arguing with you about the prices you are charging. You just wish the old S.O.B. would just go away when all of a sudden there is a ruckus. A off-duty policeman yells at another man to halt; that man grabs the guy that was just arguing with you and puts a gun to his head.
You have a loaded pistol under the counter, but if you draw it, there is the chance you will be shot:

Last Poll
We all have one.
The person we wish was dead.
The person we wish was in hell.
But Do You Really Wish That?
Think about that person for a moment. Think about them some more.
More:
and some more:
You are with the Creator of the universe and he asks you if you want that person in a fiery furnace that is heated to 4000 degrees at all times. This would be for eternity, but in doing so you must listen to that person's screams for mercy for eternity:
Would You?

I just would like to know how you would be. Please be honest, no one will know how you voted.
Keep checking back. I will post the follow-up hub link on this hub after I get some answers.
I will also explain how I would vote and why.
Is there a right and wrong answer? You will have to judge that for yourself.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

The Follow-Up Hub
- Would I?
Not long ago I published a hub with several polls in it. There were some very difficult questions and I hope that "Would You?" made the wheels in all of your heads spin. My brain is always spinning in...

My Prayers always...:O) Hugs
I have pondered such things, as what I would do. I am going to follow the voting also.
Keep on Hubbing!
.
I voted and I was shocked to find that I was unsure on most of them! It's amazing to find how cowardly I can be! When any thing in life is easy I find myself in a sea of calm but when decissions become difficult I loose myself and what I stand for! Crazy, huh? I don't think I'm the only one in this position! Leaving psycho status and coming back a diva!
I voted and I can breathe well with my choices!
wow..good fun. I voted yes to all without hesitation. Very different hub. The last one took me an additional second or two, but I would enjoy hearing the squeels of my hell dweller, it would be a relaxing corona beach moment I would love to savor for eternity.
I felt pretty good about my answers. The last question sent chills all over me. I would never ever want any one to go to hell. And to be honest there isnt one person I would wish to be dead. People that are mean and unloving deserve a chance to get to know the love of God, and they will only know this by our being kind to them. To hear anyone in hell yelling and screaming for help would be the worst thing.
Your questions bring about many thoughts.. They bring my mind to stirring up many straw men and tangent questions, but I will leave them be and simply say that my answer to every one would most likely be to the effect of "of course I would help, the circumstances don't matter, I wouldn't hesitate".. Indecision is a decision in and of itself, and it's usually the most costly one.
Peace Greg, hope your thoughts turn brighter and your feet fall lighter very soon, we are all pulling for you. And you knoooooow this, maaan. ;)
I feel that this is not so much about feeling good with your choices as what you would actualls do. I made one vote, or two, that I am not proud of, but in a real scenario, it would probably be what happened.
Wow, this one was really interesting! Thanks for posting this hub! I am interested in seeing your study results!
I would be interested to know why some folks vote on a few of the questions but not all.
very interesting questions
I agree Candie--unless they think there is just 1 or 2 polls.
My take will be up-coming in the next few days--would like to see more voting first.
one of the most interesting hubs I've ever read. Thanks for this.
Darn it--I have made a couple of calls and No--I cannot figure out who You know who is??
I'm sure I will figure it out sooner or later.
Got my "I Voted" button :)
Interesting poll! I voted and look forward to seeing the results.
I voted. Very interesting scenarios.
Voted yes for saving my kids. On the rest.. I doubt I would in real life.. you kinda dream you will but I pretty sure I wouldn't risk my life for a stranger. Kids on the other hand are your flesh and blood. Worth dieing for.
I had to think long and hard on some of these. I would have liked to hit the yes button and play the hero, but in a real life scenario it makes you stop and wonder if you know yourself as well as you thought you did.
Thanks for this hub. I will be looking forward to the follow up.
:)
Interesting hub. I will check back for the results.
This has been a very hot hub--It just amazes me at times what type of hub will take off.
Thank you all for voting and reading.
