Get Hired By Acing The Job Interview Questions

Most employers will believe that your past performance is an indication of your future success. They will target you with questions that allow them to Imagine how you will handle specific situations. Questions like how will you dealt with angry customers in the past, or how you dealt with people cheating in school.

If you want to stand out, you need to respond back as closely as possible to how you think someone in the job they are hiring for would act. The more you can allow them to visualize YOU acting in a way that will meet their needs, the more likely you are to get hired.

Job Interview Exercise - Get Hired In Your Mind First

Before you can get hired by someone else, you have to establish in your mind that you want, and will get that job. If you go to the job interview with a negative mentality it will reflect in your interview and your chances will drop substantially.

Here is a simple exercise to help you get hired. Do this in the car before the interview, or before you leave the house, or at some point before you get to the interview.

  1. Close your eyes and take several deep relaxing breaths.
  2. Imagine with each breath that you put your fears behind you and let them go.
  3. With each breath allow yourself to feel full of light and confidence. Imagine talking with authority and power. See yourself answering questions competently and easily.
  4. Look into the future and See yourself with the job you are interviewing for and See how your skills will make you a success.
  5. When you feel full of confidence and competence, and can really see yourself with the job stop the exercise and open your eyes. Repeat this exercise several times before the job interview, building a strong mental image of having the job and being capable of fulfilling its requirements.
  6. The stronger you build this mental image of yourself having the job, succeeding at the job and enjoying the job, the more chance you will get the job.

Get Hired By Selling Yourself

When you are on a job interview always remember to ask yourself, Why am I here, What do I want to accomplish and How can I do it. The answers should be I am here to Get this job, I want to Get this Job, and I can get this job by Selling myself with the best possible strategies.

This means, answer questions honestly, clearly and completely...but don't go off on a tangent. If you start to ramble you will lose the interview. Answer the questions and move on.

It also means to take your knowledge and experience and use it to Create opportunities to show your interviewer Why he wants to hire you. Use your experience to create examples of what you would do in a given situation and why. Use your answers to build your interviewers optimism that YOU can do their job well.

Job Interview Question - Weaknesses

When your interviewer asks what are your weaknesses, what are you going to say?

  1. I have no weaknesses is one answer some people make, and more often than not this is a poor choice. This answer makes you come across as arrogant and self deceptive since everyone has weaknesses.
  2. Another method of answering is to turn a weakness into a strength. That is something like...I tend to be a perfectionist and that makes me spend too much time trying to get things right.
  3. A third way is to take your weakness and show how you are working to over come it. That would be something like I used to be really poor at time management, but I have learned how to prioritize my time and now I am able to get a lot more done.

Ultimately the way that you answer this question could turn an interview around, and it means careful consideration should be taken on your part as to how you will answer it. Answer the question in a way that will reflect your understanding of the job you are applying for and hopefully reinforce your suitability for the position.

Should I Lie In My Job Interview?

A Lot of people get in their job interview and tell a bunch of lies in the hopes of getting hired. While it is ok to sell yourself, never fall into the trap of telling outright lies in your interview. In the end your lies will come back to haunt you.

Between background checks, reference checks and just plain good observational skills the lies you tell in your interview are bound to be caught. If you lie to your interviewer you not only ruin your chances at the current job...you also ruin your credibility with the company and ruin any future attempts at getting hired.
