Wrigleys Branding

 NESTLE BRANDING

The Wrigley Company has been in business for more than 100 years. Founded in 1891 by William Wrigley Jr. a salesman selling soap soon gave way to a new product gum. Today the Wrigley Company Brands are carried and produced worldwide.

The Wrigley Company has a very diverse portfolio of products starting with the first of its gums known as Juicy Fruit and Spearmint both were introduced in 1893. Since then they have developed and acquired other products such as Doublemint, Big Red, Altoids, Hubba Bubba, Winterfresh, Extra, Eclipse, Fredent, Life Savers, and Orbit. Wrigley has manufacturing plants located in Spain, China, India, Australia, France, Canada, and the United States which enables them to sell their products in more than 180 countries.

The Wrigley Company is a highly recognized brand in more than 180 countries with products to suit most anyone’s needs. For kids the number one product is Juicy Fruit, but they also have other popular brands such as Hubba Bubba bubble gum. For the teens and young adults looking for fresh breath for the unexpected moments they have products such as Big Red, Winterfresh, and Extra. For the adult crowd in the business world or traveling the world you have Fredent, Orbit, Eclipse, and Spearmint gum. They also have Lifesavers and Cream Savers for all age groups. The Wrigley Company doesn’t just focus on one life style, they try to incorporate into all tasty needs.

The Wrigley product line is very diverse as it stands now. They offer products with fruit flavors, spearmint flavors, peppermint flavors, and wintergreen flavors. I think something fun to add into the Hubba Bubba bubble gum would be to incorporate the Lifesaver flavors. I think this would attract people of all age groups.

From the research I have done on Wrigley.com it seems there packaging strategy has begun to already change. For instance they are packing all new products in more tamper proof sealed packaging which also gives longer shelf life. The packaging is a little larger which makes it harder to misplace, but also easier for others to see what you are eating.

The price for the Wrigley products is very comparable to other brands. I don’t think price is a definitive decider when the customer is making a choice. I think it is more about the availability and flavors which determines if the consumer wants the product.

The Wrigley products are distributed in many ways with convenience stores and grocery stores at the top of the list. You will also find Wrigley products at lumber yards, restaurants, and in vending machines. I believe that they have enough channels open to properly get the product out.

Some of the things that would be nice to see from Wrigley is the return of some media adds. The one that sticks in my mind is the Doublemint commercials with the twins. They also have had many others that included products like Hubba Bubba and Big Red. Media ads are important because it enables the consumer to see what advances you have made in manufacturing your product. For instance the beer companies use there adds to show how there brewing and packaging enable them to produce the best product and not just new flavors. I think this may be something beneficial for Wrigley Company.

The Wrigley Company started out with one salesman William Wrigley Jr. and today has grown into one of the world’s largest manufacturer of gum and confectionary products. By keeping there products visible and coming up with new flavors and packaging, they will be around for years to come.
