Getting Rid Of Wrinkles
59
Wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process and will appear as a fold or a crease on the skin. Wrinkles will happen whether or not we want them to occur however we can limit the amount of wrinkles we get by taking good care of our skin. Here are a few things you can do to limit your chances of developing a lot of wrinkles:
-
Limit your exposure to the sun and always wear sunscreen when you are outside. The sun will really take its toll on your skin and it can cause it to age rapidly. To prevent wrinkles and sun spots, take an umbrella with you wherever you go to protect your skin from the sun.
-
Quit smoking. Everyone knows that smoking is bad for you and it is one of the reasons why you will have more wrinkles from everyone else as you get older.
- Quit tanning. Even tough it may look nice to be all tan in the winter; tanning salons are one of the worst things you can do to your skin. The main reason is because most people don't wear sun block when they are in the tanning beds and they get a chemical burn, which is far worse from a regular sunburn.
There are other things that cause us to have wrinkles like our genetic makeup and our skin color. People with blonde hair and lighter complexions are prone to more wrinkles. Many people get wrinkles from their occupation like working outside as a farmer or road construction employee. If you have to work outside, use sunscreen and try to wear long-sleeve clothing and hats to protect your skin.
Wrinkles will appear all over the body but they tend to be worse on the face. Perhaps this is also because more people pay attention to their facial appearance as they start to age. This is also because the face is always exposed to the sun, causing more damage to be done to the face than any other part of the body. A wrinkle will appear as creases and fold but they often look like fine lines. Depending upon the severity of your wrinkles, you may be able to reduce their appearance through Botox injections. If you have deep wrinkles or they bother you, plastic surgery is another option you can try.
Here are a few things you can do to treat wrinkles:
-
Botox - Botox treatments normally take 7 days before you will notice a difference in your wrinkles and they can last up to 6 months depending upon your skin. Botox injections will cost about $500 for one shot and most patients need 3-5 shots per treatment. Botox injections are inserted into the skin using a small needle. Normally you will feel a small pinch and it will go away within a few seconds.
-
Plastic surgery - To permanently get rid of wrinkles, many people will have plastic surgery on their face. This is normally referred to as a face lift. The procedure takes a couple hours to perform, depending upon how much work you want done. They will cut away excess skin and essentially lift and pull your skin, giving it back its elasticity. The recovery process is often the hardest part of a facial as it can take 6 weeks or longer to heal. Most patients will have some bruising for several weeks. The entire procedure can cost upwards of $5,000 depending upon the surgery you need done and the plastic surgeon that performs it.
-
Creams and ointments - A less extreme way to reduce wrinkles is to use creams and ointments. There are several moisturizers out there that focus on making the skin look tighter, which helps to minimize the appearance of wrinkles.
