Article Marketing Guide to Increase Traffic and Profits
72You know article marketing creates for you high visibility, wonderfully optimizes your website and Google page ranking, and builds your ezine/newsletter subscriber numbers. When you post a well thought out article on EzineArticles, HubPages, Squidoo, or WordPress, your targeted readers will visit your web site and explore your many services and products. That's how I built my subscriber lists from 0 to thousands in just a few years and they keep on growing every day!
Your articles bring your targeted niche market to your web site to see what you have to offer. If you don't want to disappoint them and you want new subscribers and visitors to keep showing up, you need to continue to add new content to your site and submit articles to blogs and article directories. This will not only bring you the traffic you need, but your visitors will become loyal customers as well!
This can seem like a daunting task at first and you might have the articles complete, but don't have anyone handy to edit them. The secret is that you can edit them yourself as you go with an optimal article speed writing strategy - with a little help from this article marketing guide.
Use this Checklist to Edit Your Articles Before You Submit
- Start your introduction with a dazzeling hook by asking a question, showing a benefit, or giving a startling fact. You must hook your readers with something that reaches their inner emotions and provokes them. Show them you care by ncluding questions about where they are now that your article will answer.
- Make your compelling hook only a few sentences. Make each hook rich with keywords and phrases that allo your readers want to get to the heart of your article fast. They want readable, quick tips, and wish to avoid long stories that will make them yawn.
- Place the article thesis at the end of your introduction, just like in when you were in school!Your whole article must relate to the thesis to keep you on track and focused for a more clear and compelling article. It doesn't have to pass a professor's standards and can be as simple as "Use this checklist to edit your articles."
- Make every one of your sentences short and concise. Since standard sentence length is 15-17 words, make most of your sentences even less than that! Complex sentences and multiple phrases make the reading sluggish and frustrating. Make it simple for your readers to catch the subject and verb of each sentence, so they get the point fast. Online article readers are in a hurry and want to get their info quickly!
- Avoid boring, sleepish, droggy sentences. To avoid passive sentence structure, start them with a subject, and then follow with an action verb. For instance, "The coach markets her business and books through submitting articles on the Internet" is an active sentence. "The coach's books were marketed online through submitting articles." is terribly passive. Drop linking verbs such as "is," "was," "seemed," or "had" or at least keep the total number from 2-4% to create exciting active sentences. Replace your passive verbs with power, active verbs like "She is beautiful," with "Her beauty compels you to stare at her."
- Aim for insightful, informative, and clear copy. Write for the10th grade reader and don't bother trying to impress with pompous words such as "utilize" and "induct." The shorter words always hit home better than the ones you find on the SAT. You don't need to make reading your article a nightmare! Keep reminding yourself, "What's in it for them?"
- Use concrete and specific nouns, places, and names. General references don't engage your readers' emotions or get in touch with their creative side. Let them see the size, color, and shape of what you're talking about! Rather than say, "Write your book fast to make lifelong income," say "Write and finish your book fast so you can take that well-deserved vacation to the Virgin Islands." Give your reader their ideal picture, let describe their benefits. Money alone doesn't motivate, but what people can do because of it does!
- Let go of certain, useless adverbs. Show instead of tell by dropping words like very, suddenly, and sparingly. Use adverbs as often as you celebrate your birthday, maybe even less. Your readers are hungry and eager to experience feelings as well as picture themselves in your examples.
- Let go and pack up your adjectives. Let the noun make the statement and instead of saying, "She is a super-intelligent person," say, "She's a genius."
- Use the present or past tense of the verb rather than the "-ing" form of the verb by thinking in the letter "s."Instead of, "she is swimming," say, "she swims." Say "She had known her article was weak." instead of, "She knew her article was weak."
Make your article noticed by thousands of readers by remembering your word choice does make a difference - both in commercial acceptance as well as audience understanding. Self editing will help and you can always get professional feedback on the final version of your article.
Web 2.0 Article Marketing Guidelines
Article marketing has changed. 2.0 marketing will optimize your web site and attract a mass, target audience for service and product sales profits. Immediately increase site traffic - web 2.0 will help boost your business online.
Build your home business, coaching and other small business sales featuring yourself as the expert that can make a difference in people's lives. Article small business marketing in web 2.0 mode will bring you credibiliy, brand business, web ranking and life long customers.
Web 1.0 article marketing was a great start. It was free too. When you sumitted articles to 100's of sites it worked well creating you much visibility until Google changed the rules. Now these mistakes can cost you--to even be black balled by Google. When they see two articles alike, they will remove one of them so you are not ahead of the game with this approach.
When so many new article directory sites got into the game, pitching their affiliate programs with automatic article writing programs, article blasters, gluttting the market, article quality went down. So, you must be flexible and think quality with Internet marketing.
Today, for each article you write for www.ezinearticles.com, you must change its content and key words at least 15% when you submit it to other article directories or blogs, or they will consider it plagerism. Want to compare your same topic articles to see if they pass the test? Go to www.dupecop.com/ and compare your original and revised articles side-by-side.
Social networking blog and original publication sites like HubPages and Squidoo not only teach the standards of the web 2.0 game by writers meeting their requirements, they allow for a rich environment of information sharing and writer/reader connectivity. As your article numbers increase, so do your fans, your audience, your credibility, your self-branding, and your business profit potential begins to soar.
Benefits and Techniques of Updated Article Marketing
- Unlike pay-per-click, it's FREE. Once you submit only 2-3 articles a week that takes about 3 hours per week of your time.
- Web 2.0 techniques drive highly targeted traffic to your site for a lifetime.

How to Write an Article in 30 Minutes
You may already be marketing with articles. You may know the power of marketing articles that makes you trusted as an expert in your field, that brings your target market to your website in droves, optimizing your site in MSN, Google, and Yahoo search engines. Now, you can know what the best promotional article is--the tip article.
As you too look for tips to help you in your work or play, millions of others do too. Your audience loves tips because they don't want to spend a lot of time reading. They want the easy to read nuggets that pertain to their interests and that they can skim. And your benefit? Now you can write an article in 30 minutes or less. Short cut your writing time--take information from a longer how to article or from your self-help book chapters. You have hundreds of these in your files and folders too.
Yes, you can write a tip, even if you're not a professional writer, because you know your audience's challenges. A tip is a how to article, but much shorter, the one that your audience loves the most.
Solve your Audience's Problems by Writing a Tip
Tip articles are great because they take the shortest time to write, are so useful, and people love them. Here's four ways on how to write a feature article using tips.
- Create your tip article title. Name your tip's thesis. "The # One Way to Optimize your Web Site-Write Articles." Be sure to include key words the search engines love so you'll get a higher ranked web page. Key words also hook your readers to keep going because they imply benefits. Use keywords through your tip article to attract the search engines. Naturally they must fit the article.
- Write a thesis in paragraph one. You just need a short hook with benefits here.
- Write a command such as "do this" in your second paragraph. For example "Write and submit articles to article directories and blogs."
- Share the benefits for doing it or consequences from not doing it. For example, "When you send dozens of articles to thousands of web sites, you receive a much higher Google rating for your web site, you gain subscribers for your ezine, and you become known as the savvy expert people trust and will eventually buy from. The consequences of not doing this: If you don't market with articles you stay unknown and so does your Web site and what you sell. Your business stagnates.
- Solutions to your audience's challenge. Include one or two websites or books (not yours) where reader can get more information. For example "Google "article marketing tips" or other phrases that will take you to web sites where you can learn from mentors. Read how to books, including mistakes and solutions for article marketers as well as how to submit your articles to high-traffic websites."
Marketing profits come your way with leveraging your tip articles, from 10, to 7, to 5, to 3 and sometimes just one tip expanded to a 300-500-word article. Put your article promotion on a new track--write tips!

I see you do affiate marketing. Try 3 of my packages on books and article marketing at the bottom of my home page on bookcoaching.com
Hi GlenysYes, a lot of conflicting advise out there. Just consider the source. Are they just selling you an expensive software, or have they walked the talk. Turn to someone you trust and have gottene to know over time. Here's a loose schedule of priorities: 1. write a few articles. Take them from your print or eBook. Get them edited by a peer or pro. Include a poweful resource box. or not much will happen. 2.Take time to set up your article marketing system. Then either delegate the submisssions to another person you trust or do them yourself for just a month. You'll make 4-6 X your VA assistant cost each month. 3. Write your short eBook first. It's easiier and gives your profits faster. Then, write articles from each chapter--an endless supply. 4. Write yoru product sales letters. Keep them a one page sales letter.
Thanks Eileen, Bruce and Glassvissag for your kiind words on the article-edit as you go piece. It's a myth you need to do a lot of rewrites and editing. My book ccoaching clients knwo this too. Skip the middle man to speed up your writing of most anything. Just get 1 or 2 edits after you follow the tips above,
Thanks for reading,

Hey Judy, This is a great hub. You practice what your preach, which makes it very clear and understandable. I'll use these tips. Thanks!
Hooks...spoke to another author recently and she said she started each chapter with a 'thought'.I said hooks..How do or do not, thoughts work in this context?
-Thanks Judy,
Joanne
Hi Judy,
Your hooks really work.
As you know, I rewrote the opening pages of each chapter with a short list of benefit "hooks" for the reader. I finished each chapter with a "benefits to look forward to next" hook. I submitted it back to the editor and held my breath...
I just got back the first draft markups from the editors. None--that's right-none of the opening or ending hooks were touched!
Guess I must have hooked the editors, too!
Thanks again, Judy.
Best - John J.
Hi Judy Really appreciate your article. I have a number of things on the go and would like to know where is the best place to start. Do I write my articles first then update my website or develop a new product, and write articles then for marketing? Programs seem to give conflicting advice. I love your articles and would like to hear more from you.
Thank you Glenys
Perfect tips, just like I learned in college :)
Good clear and precise information for all us learning the art of writing. thanks

Great tips, one more would be to be for those who can not type that fast to create an article. I picked up a speech recognition software called dragon naturally speaking it really cuts down the article writing times to about 5 or 10 min. I just created my own article directory site and loving every moment of it.
