Welcome to Write a Fantasy

Welcome to writing Fantasy stories. I have a part of a story on this page. You have been given enough information to get a feel of what the world and characters are like. What I'd like is for anyone who is interested to take this forward and add to it as a sort of collaboration. Put your story ideas, additions into a comment and we can all share in the exercise. Maybe among the submissions we can craft some really good stories. I look forward to reading everyones work and rest assured that  any one of you is free to use this piece of work in any way they choose but please, nothing racy in the posts.

Another Start- Build on this

The Dawn Children

Note: This story beginning is taken from a similar story idea I posted on WeBook.com

Battle raged across the heavens. Cruisers larger than moons arrayed themselves across half a galaxy in the hunt.

Like hounds from a stellar hell they harry the last battle group of the Dawn Children, killing them one by one. Not without cost, for the giant android killers pay a price for their kills.. Each of the small ships has taken it's killer into death with it and now only four of the hunters are left.

The chase closes on Centauri system. Juggernaut s'Kith crowding the little fleet of javelins so desperate to evade them. What's that? A vague ion trail off in the distance triggers the launch of a disc shaped s'Kith fighter. This war will end today! No survivors to rebuild their pitiful Dawnholme. It has destroyed all save this one last battle group but all the enemy will die here!

The wraith shrieks in mad glee as it gives the order "Close in! Kill them!" Desperation makes the javelin ships turn and dive at their giant attackers. Grim emotion causes reptilian jaws to grind. Determination narrows the captains eyes as he glances over at his mate. "Are we ready? Alright, then. Synch the other fighters to main computer control! Prepare to overload the engines on impact!"

Strapped down in each engine well is a nova generator ready to convert each of the small ships beta drives into a bomb with the force of a supernova. 'Yes, thought the captain. You are right my enemy. This war will end today, but not as you think.'

s'Kith sensors picked up the beta particles just as the small javelins reached their screens. Then heaven exploded as Centauri became a binary system instead of trinary. That sun died, taking everything nearby with it. Just as those brave souls were killing their ancient enemy a small globe phased into the Sol system with a fighter escort. The price of their escape will be seen in the night skies of Sol in four years.

. "At least we're safe!" breathed the globes pilot to his navigator. " No, sir. Not so safe! Our power is failing fast. We are going to hit the planet hard with no way to stop."

"All hands! Prepare for impact. All nonessential personnel report to sleep bay and enter h chambers! Pilot, on my command release your console to me and go to sleep deck. Navigation slave to pilot and divert all power to sleep deck shielding. Impact is 12 minutes."

Impact. Everything will change now as the globe, shattered and torn lies at the bottom of three mile deep hole. Deep within lies nearly the only living thing left on the earth, sleeping until the computer AI says that the sleepers can awake and go out on this new world. The world they killed.

The Stories

The Harpers Apprentice

1

The Elf Maiden

Britain 874 AD

On the hillside above the pool a young boy grazes his sheep never knowing that his life will change forever. He takes out his flute and plays softly as his sheep graze contentedly.

Down below Helaine steps into the warm water and swims across the pool. Bathing lazily the elf girl hears the drowsy music and smiles thinking one of her brethren did play for her.

Dressing, she climbs the path only to discover a teen aged human boy asleep among his sheep. Looking about more closely she sees no other of her kind and realizes the boy has made the music magic. “He doesn’t know she thought . This boy’s power is strong and he will need time for it’s growth.”

Her mind made up, she cast a glamor on the boy so his sleep would continue until awakened by herself. Then she called out to her sisters to join her and did something an elf may only do once. She blessed the boy with a portion of her own immortality and grace. Then, much diminished she and her sisters went back into the deep forest to vanish from the eyes and ears of mortal men. As for the boy he slept on until the sun started to sink beneath the hillside and many, many years would pass before ever he knew who to thank (and sometimes curse) for the gift of Helaine.
