How Can I Speak Of Love: Writers' Blocks

While researching another Hub, I stumbled across this image. It fit so perfectly with an idea I'd had about trying to find the words to deal with my feelings.

I was shattered by the events of my life. I felt destroyed, robbed of any reason to go on, and certainly unworthy of anything approaching love.....but I had begun to feel I was sifting through the same words and phrases, rehashing the events to my few confidants, picking the barely-formed scabs off too-fresh wounds.

Hub pages gave me a forum for my words - a lifeline; a safe place to explore, express, expand, and eventually, to regain myself. In writing, I again found a reason to get up in the morning. I found new strength in the outpouring of support and encouragement.

...and I know I will rebuild my life once again.

I measure out my life in Hubs

And, Prufock-like, from room to room I pass;

Speaking not of long-dead painters,

Speaking not;

So many blocks have I,

This surge of letters coiling in my mouth

That have no egress;

Only splinters, shards of former thoughts,

They yearn for union, building one on next,

Cogent, refined, well-tuned;

My life spilled out upon the floor,

Once partnered, planned, goals set,

Now, Humpty-like, from brickwork tumbled down;

And bricks now tumbled as my thoughts,

In shaky heaps;

Children's blocks, bright painted color,

From numb and fumbling hands they fall;

To lie, discarded,

On the bricks of all the lies that went before;

Now start again;

Unblock the blocks of letters, blocks of words,

Blocks of the heart;

Discard the blocks while words and letters keep

To build again,

Not on what was built before,

But new, renewed, new purposed;

New words to tell old pain,

New words to tell of new life.

I have to admit, I have trouble wrapping my brain around poetry, (rather like a fox-trot) but you lead most gracefully

Thank you so much, Candie, and cindyvine, I have always liked to play with words, so it's nice when they are well received.

...and thank you Lowell for the thought provoking request. It was a most enjoyable challenge.

Enelle, you have a graceful way about you, too, particularly with a compliment. Really enjoyed your latest hub, as well. Thanks.

Had never thought of writers block in this way, what a brilliant analogy.

Thank you Hawkesdream. I came across the image of the alphabet blocks while researching another topic. It just seemed to fit so nicely with what I was working on...
