Can one really write articles and earn a living? It is possible to earn a second income by writing articles for sites like Hubpages, and even earn a primary income by writing a great number of quality articles on a variety of sites.

There now an number of sites on the Internet where you can write and earn money. Hubpages is is unique because they not only share Google Adsense revenue with writers but they share e-Bay and Amazon.com

Serious writers with a portfolio of work may want to try one of the large content sites such as Helium.com.

For those with lots of ideas for medium to small sized articles sites like Hubpages, Xomba, Bukisa and e-How are good. Most of these share Adsense revenue fifty - fifty with writers.

How many articles does it take to earn a living? There is no concrete formula for the number of articles that you need to write to make x amount of dollars. In my experience, talking to other writers you can possibly expect $1.00 per day in combined revenue per every 100 good, lengthy articles on popular subjects.

How do you decide what to write about? There is a writer in all of us. Each of us has knowledge about some subject that we can share with the rest of the world and earn money writing in the process. You just want to make sure that your article is easily understood and uses good grammar and spelling.

Use a spell check program to proofread your article and before submitting have a friend our spouse read over it and give you suggestions. Add images when possible, just be sure that those images are not copyright protected.

You may be able to develop a good residual income by writing articles. It may even be possible for you to earn a living with enough articles on various sites but it will take lots of time and effort.

Update: I have added a site called Linkbee to my collection of sites where I earn money. Although it is not an article writing site, it allows you to earn revenue from links or bookmarks you place. It works similar to Tinyurl.com in that it shortens very long addresses. You can use social networking and bookmarking sites like Twitter, Digg.com, Delicious, Stumbleupon and others to publicize your writing. The more your articles are read, the more money you can make and one of the best ways of publicizing is to use social bookmarking sites. There is one social bookmarkinig site, Infopirate, that also shares Adsense revenue with you so you can kill two birds with the same stone.
