Preparing for the big day can be time consuming and often times confusing, bride and groom both want everything to be perfect because this is something that’s only supposed to happen once in a lifetime. One of the biggest brain bashing time consuming moments can be the bride and grooms wedding speeches, you know exactly what you have in mind to say to each other in the speech but are not sure how to go about doing it.

It would be a perfect idea to have a get together to come to a understanding of what the other has in mind to say or there may be more parties in the wedding that want to say something as well, what you definitely don’t want is for everyone to be saying the exact same thing, that would make your wedding un-real and a bit too much rehearsed.  You don’t have to necessarily take notes on what the other will in part say because you want to keep the surprise element there to make your Wedding Day all the more special but you two already probably know what the other is preparing to say because you’ve become one in the same so you could actually split the speech in half.

When I say split the speech in half this means for example you could cover different parts, he could cover the moment you two first met, you as the bride could cover the first kiss, and both bride and groom can cover the moment you knew you had fallen in-love with each other. You could also add a little wedding day humor to the speech or you can save that part for your parents when you’re all raising the Champaign glasses to make that toast to the happy couple.

Things you don’t want to do when writing a wedding speech is go overboard, you want to be correct in grammar and you want to be focused as if you were giving a speech in which the president of the united states would be hearing because if it’s not just right then your entire wedding party is going to have something to talk about for many years to come. You also want to hold back on the liquor until after its done to keep from slipping up and letting too much out which might be a inconvenience, though it’s okay to get emotional you don’t want to sound as if you’re giving a eulogy for a funeral.  I have seen this happen before, a perfect example is a wedding in Florida a few years back when the groom had one too many to drink and began the speech in these exact words,  Baby Girl you know we been through our ups n downs, our ins and outs but you were always beside me whenever I needed you, when I got out of jail you was there for me, when I got out of rehab you was there for me, when I lost my job you was there for me…..Too much information at the wrong time and yes this really did happen, the bride was really upset.

Never and I do repeat never start talking about other relationships you’ve had on your wedding day no matter the point you are trying to get across. Those other men or women were your past so don’t let them have even that little bit of light in your moment.  It is however okay to thank the people who had a hand in bringing you two together as this is a great way to either start or end the wedding speeches.  You also might not want to make the wedding speech too long as it is your day everyone will be respectful and polite but the party must start sometime before you two head off on the honeymoon.
