Writing your own wedding vows - why should you bother?

Having personalised wedding vows enables you to break away from the typical wording and bring some thing different to your wedding. Your wedding ceremony's main section, the bit all the guests look forward to is the exchanging of your wedding vows. It's also the most emotional part of the service as this is time where you look lovingly into your partners eyes and block out the world around you. By writing your own wedding vows it gives you an opportunity to emphasise your friendship, the meaningful moments that you've already experienced and your dreams for your future together.

Your guests also really pay attention when your wedding vows are being exchanged, for them it is that "ahhh" moment for them the sharing of the wedding vows is what the wedding ceremony is all about.

Civil Wedding Vows

If you choose to have a civil wedding ceremony you will probably be given a choice in your statutory vows, each with have the same meaning and are legal. Each will be slightly longer so you can choose whether you want to spend 30 seconds exchanging your wedding vows or 5 minutes.

Once you have fulfilled the legal obligation of your statutory wedding vows you will be able to add your personalised wedding vows.

My husband and I wrote our own wedding vows, I didn't have many problems writing mine but my husband really struggled. Maybe it's the fact that women can usually share their feeling more easily.

Hilary - I think you maybe write about women being able to share their feeling more easily and therefore find it easier than men to write their own wedding vows.

William - I've glad you've found this hub to be some use. I hope you have a great wedding day.

So it is easier for Women to write their own wedding vows?

I was inspired by the comment Hiliary left:

"My husband and I wrote our own wedding vows, I didn't have many problems writing mine but my husband really struggled. Maybe it's the fact that women can usually share their feeling more easily."

So I thought I'd pose it as a question, do you think Hilary is right? Are women able to share their feeling more easily and do this influence their ability to write their own wedding vows?

Feel free to leave your opinons below.

Do writing your own wedding vows come easier to women?
