Writing for search engines is half art and half science. The good news is, if you are writing on HubPages, we take care of the technical aspects. We are constantly working to improve the platform to achieve the best possible rankings in search engines.
Even if you follow the guidelines, some of them or none of them, you will always do best by creating high-quality original works that answer a question very well. Remember that search engine traffic is important; the real reason you're writing is to provide useful information to people.
Why is this? Because, when you write great pieces of content that others find useful, other websites will begin to link to your site. They usually include anchor text that is relevant to the topic. This does two things: First, it gives the search engine another clue about what your page is about. Second, it is a sign of quality. The more links coming to your site, the more the major search engines trust it.
So, in the end, create high quality pieces of content on HubPages and you will do very well in search engines.

This little series we designed for people that want to get more traffic from search engines. I get quite a few questions about how to write for search engines, so I thought I'd turn it into a post (or five of them).
One interesting thing is we get several requests from Google and others on Poetry related topics from all the great poems you and others have written.

This will definately help. We are seeing well written articles that target search phrases get traffic pretty quickly now.

Tonight I went to post one of my hubs on DIGG and found out someone already posted it. That tells me people are finding our Hubs useful and they are willing to send other readers here. Keep up the good work Paul and all the Hubpage staffers.
Okay great. I'm glad to hear I'm using the write formula in creating hubs and I wanted to say, Luv the avatar especially, because it's got that cute little baby girl in it...I absolutely adore babies and she is a beauty.
