It's not available here locally but I would still like to read Susan's review of Au Jus.
Susan you are one tough cookie on your reviews and I really like that!!!! Have you ever given a can cat food a 10?
Susan,
Not sure where to put this since I didn't locate a review of Wysong Au Jus feline by you. So I'll include it here. I wrote to them and asked about the "Animal plasma" that is listed as an ingredient in the Au Jus foods.
First I must tell you that there is a message in their e-mail that states that the information is confidential. ...copyrighted by sender and is intended for viewing by the individual to which it is sent. Contains information which the sender considered cofindential.... copying and sharing is prohibited without consent. That just bugs me! If they answered the question in an e-mail why would the answer be different for public viewing???
Anyway, I guess I can't post the answer. So if anyone is interested in finding out what the "animal plasma" is in Wysongs can foods I would encourage you to e-mail and find out. I wasn't pleased with the answer. I thought maybe it was something that just occured based on the meat used.
Ann,
I will try to get to your review request this weekend!
Susan
Leslie,
In my 10 point "shopping list" reviews I have awarded 8 "10" plaques! LOL
I doubt I'll give these same foods much credit with the Pet Food Danger Gauge but we will have to see!
Leslie I have to be hard on these companies since I've learned what I thought would be a good ingredient, when placed in the hands of pet food companies, becomes bad.
An example would be "animal fat". Sounds like that should be good stuff to me. My dad and a lot of "old timers" always gave the dogs beef fat in the winter so I figured fat was good. Turns out fat is rendered restaurant grease which has sat around in barrels outside the cafe (unprotected) until the rendering truck comes along. Sounds yummy, doesn't it?
Susan
Ann,
I will check with my attorney in reference to the email you received and see what the limits of liabilty are on this...

Hi, I read Dr. Wysongs "The truth about pet foods" years ago and it was an eye opening book about the wrongs of current pet foods. It was published years before the recalls ever took place, and was a warning to health issues on pets put on ANY kind of kibble or canned food fed as a sole diet. Basicaly it states that cooked foods do not have all the nutrients essential for felines and canines that a RAW diet will provide. The sorce of food should be what an animal would eat if it was in the wild. The best alternative being RAW. Which I whole heartedly agree. Wysong's food was designed to be paired with a raw diet and NOT fed singularly. So how exactly did this food get bad ratings? I am a little baffled since the food is only ment to be 10% of a pets diet? No explanation is given to how this food was scored. Please specifiy.

I love that commercial!!!!
Wysong Au Jus line was suggested to me as a product to start transitioning my cat to from kibble then to possibly a home prepared food. I was surprised to see that in some of their product(not the Au Jus) wheat, corn, gluten and even GARLIC. This company seems to pride itself in education(see info. on their site). So those poor quality ingredients in some of their line really surprised me. I would be interested in Susan's reviews of Wysong. Especially the Au Jus line.
