Pet Food Danger Gauge 83% Unsafe For Pets

Natural Flavor. I always like the way pet food companies hide the use of manure in the ingredients. Natural flavor is made from the manure of the animal the pet food company wants the pet food to taste like. If natural flavor were an actual part of the ingredients then natural flavor would not have to be listed as a separate ingredient. From FDA reports.

Natural Flavors as defined by the FDA With respect to flavors, pet foods often contain "digests," which are materials treated with heat, enzymes and/or acids to form concentrated natural flavors. Only a small amount of a "chicken digest" is needed to produce a "Chicken Flavored Cat Food," even though no actual chicken is added to the food. Stocks or broths are also occasionally added. Whey is often used to add a milk flavor. Often labels will bear a claim of "no artificial flavors." Actually, artificial flavors are rarely used in pet foods. The major exception to that would be artificial smoke or bacon flavors, which are added to some treats. http://www.fda.gov/cvm/petlabel.htm

Animal digest. AAFCO doesn't care that manure is included in the pet food as long as the temperature at the time of cooking is brought to a certain degree.

Now there are those people out there who simply refuse to believe a pet food company would use manure in their pet's foods. Let me ask you to think on this issue for just a minute and then see what you decide. Let's take a person, for instance, When a person begins the "digestion" process food is placed in the mouth for chewing. Digestion continues as the food passes to the stomach and is broken down to pass into the intestines for further digestion. Digestion is complete once the person has had a bowl movement and fully evacuated the food from the human body. Why would obtaining animal digest be any different from human digest?

Animal Plasma - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Blood plasma is prepared simply by spinning a tube of fresh blood in a centrifuge until the blood cells fall to the bottom of the tube. From what animal have they collected all this blood and why is it included in our pet food?

Sodium Carbonate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - The most important use for sodium carbonate is in the manufacture of glass. a common additive in municipal pools used to neutralize the acidic effects of chlorine and raise pH. In taxidermy, sodium carbonate added to boiling water will remove flesh from the skull or bones of trophies to create the "European skull mount" or for educational display in biological and historical studies. Sodium carbonate is also used as a descaling agent in boilers such as found in coffee pots, espresso machines, etc. In dyeing with fiber-reactive dyes, sodium carbonate (often under a name such as soda ash fixative or soda ash activator) is used to ensure proper chemical bonding of the dye with the fibers, typically before dying (for tie dyes), mixed with the dye (for dye painting), or after dyeing. The crystalline form of washing soda can be used to induce vomiting in dogs. A tablespoon for large breeds is sufficient to force the animal to empty the contents of its stomach.

Choline chloride is mass produced and is an important additive in feed especially for chicken where it accelerates growth. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Potassium Chloride - used as the third of a three drug combination in judicial execution through lethal injection and used for making fertilizer.

Sodium Phosphate - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Adding sodium phosphates to food increases the shelf life of the food; maintaining the texture and appearance of the food. Sodium Phosphate (trisodium phosphate) is also an ingredient of cleaning products.

Sodium selenite is mainly used in the manufacture of colorless glass - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Hi Susan, I saw Animal Plasma listed on another Wysong product and wondered the same thing - from what animal. I haven't located anything yet on their site that would clarify this.

Not sure where this request should be entered but would you review Wysong's Au Jus feline and Wysong VEGAN for cats and dogs? Yes, I know VEGAN for cats. So sad! Not that being a vegan(which I am) is sad it's just that anyone with even the most basic knowledge is aware that certain animals are carnivores. Feeding them only fruits and veggies would d destroy their health. It's not the diet they were created to eat.

Ann,

I have a house full of boarders this weekend (at my salon) and it is my turn to stay with them. We provide 24 hour supervised boarding care for pets so this should give me enough time to get caught up on my review requests. I will let you know on this page when those reviews post.

Ann,

I have the Au Jus and the Vegan reviews ready for you to take a look at.

I would never have believed Wysong or any other company would sell the trash man's load to the public for $10.00 a pound. My Gawd!
