YOU KNOW THINGS ARE BAD WHEN

You Hear That...

Was talking with my dad the other morning and among our catching up on who we thought had a chance in the presidential race this year, the current banking situation came up. Certainly, it had to happen sooner or later. Things had been happening lately. First it was the housing market. Now the real estate industry like any other major industry in the need of constant funding is heavily dependent on banks to keep them afloat. And whether we want to believe it or not, each industry is somehow connected to other industries. In the beginning, the most closely connected industries will no doubt feel the impact much sooner than the others. But given enough time, each industry will eventually also feel the financial pains of its counterparts.

WHAT WAS THE ACTUAL CATALYST?

We could say it was the escalating gas prices; although I’m not altogether certain that it was that alone. On the apparent surface, it wasn’t very long after the gas prices started to sky rocket, that the automobile industry began to feel a weakness in its financial bones. But the slowing of the conveyer belt in the housing market was still at a standstill or at least not moving forward, So it probably was the lagging housing market and the price of oil together that created a huge ripple effect on the economy. It had to.

Not long after that food prices began to increase slowly until in my opinion the current prices seem to be beyond what is rational. It immediately affected every food bank in the United States and news reports reveal their empty shelves. Now I’m wondering how some people will be able to eat period. Of course hasn’t it always been like this?

Don’t hate me for saying this but, this just might be the catalyst we all need to get us going in our world, our country, communities and families. We can all become complacent in our lives especially as we become dependent on other automatic systems that make our lives simpler. Honestly it’s very easy to become lazy and just let others do it for us when we are very capable of doing for ourselves. I’m talking about able bodied individuals here; those of us who really don’t have an excuse. We all know who we are. We all have some pretty awesome talents that God had has given us for ourselves and the service of others. We really shouldn’t be so dependent on systems to survive in this world. We should be providing a living to take care of those who truly aren’t able to care for themselves without the heinous strings attached that make their lives even more difficult than they already are.

This is very true. More often than not I see too many people that expect the gov't to take care of them when they are able bodied.

Each one of us was created to do so much more. So sad. Wasted opportunities to see what talents and attributes we have when put under pressure. Like the essence that's left over after heating or processing of raw mineral or jewels. We'd be shocked to learn what we could do if we tried.
