Yahoo Acquires Jumpcut

Yahoo has purchased Jumpcut. I haven't heard terms of the deal, but this is interesting since Yahoo was rumored to be in talks with VideoEgg. Yahoo does have a better track record than most at successful acquistions. They spotted flickr early and when things were cheap, they picked up Launch (This was a very good buy and they got a ton of video content out of it cheap, but that's another post). I bet they wish they had bought more, but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

Jumpcut makes a simple video editing platform. I've never used it, but most reviews say it is targeted at basic users that want to do things simply. Sounds like a good idea to me. With Groupr getting purchased by Sony, this makes two recent video acquisitions. We would still like to see more as would the VCs.

Jumpcut had angel funding from Westlake Venture Partners and Great Oaks Capital.
