Yes Virginia, I'm a Conservative!

I Confess...I DID support Obama..for a little while.

As a conservative I have something to confess. There was a time before the election when I supported Barack Obama for the presidency. I went to see him when he came to my city, I cheered at all his "Yes we can!" rhetoric, having fallen for the "glamour" of Obama Mania. I over looked his extreme left leaning voting record, his anti-life stance despite my reservations and was prepared to vote for him in November.

And then came the Saddleback Forum, his inability to communicate succinctly without a teleprompter speech or prepared statement, and I could no longer fall into lockstep with the masses. I began truly listening to what the man was proposing and I couldn't support him.

The election came and went and with a lackluster show from Republican and undecided voters, we now have President Obama. I have honest concerns about the Obama administration and the direction this new "change" will be leading our country.

While I do admire the President for his ability to inspire and lead the masses to this astounding victory, I see he's already signed a bill which will mean my taxes are supporting abortion, the so called "stimulus" package he's trying to push is more about paying off lobbyists and groups who helped the Democratic party during the election season, and have sincere doubts that he will be able to protect this country from our enemies.

Forget his dubious connections with people like Bill Ayers, what about the appointment of various individuals to his cabinet that remind one of allowing the wolves to guard the hen house! He said in his acceptance speech after his stunning victory that he will attempt to earn my respect as our Commander in Chief despite the fact he doesnt represent my views or values. So far I'm not terribly impressed, although I will give you he's only been in charge for eleven days.

On November 4th, I ended that disappointing election night not in celebration for the dubious "change" everyone is expecting, but praying for Barack Obama. Praying he will have the wisdom to seek God in his decisions, respect ALL life (no matter the size or location), and work to secure victory in Iraq, and Afghanistan, not simplly retreat. Asking God to heal the divisions of our nation, and provide protection for President Obama from anyone desiring to make themselves famous because of his historic appointment. I repeated that prayer on the day of his inaugeration into office, and will continue to pray for him and his administration.

I don't agree with or support his extreme agenda for this country and only time will tell what kind of president the man will be. I am willing to give him a chance and give him the respect his office deserves, but don't expect me to be happy as our country continues to struggle under the weight of the new administrations big government ideas.

I share many of your concerns. This division of our society is not really a new problem, but the warring factions are reaching a point where there can be no common ground. I wrote about similar issues in my first ever blog today. Here are some of my thoughts on our current situation.
