Nowadays people don't have to drive to their local yoga studio and dish out money they would rather keep.  Now you can watch yoga online, and what a great concept that is.  Sure there is fitness TV but does it fit your schedule?  Practicing yoga online is excellent, you don't have to remember to record a show you just log on and play the yoga class you desire.  The reason why I am writing this hub is because there is a great website if you are interested in learning more about yoga fitness.  It is called MyFreeYoga.com, this site is dedicated to students, yoga instructors, and anyone else who is curious about yoga.  I don't want this hub to be blatant advertising, so I will include one last thing about the site...you can share, rate, and comment free yoga videos.

Okay, so you want to learn about yoga.  The first thing you should consider is where you want to practice.  Make sure it is a flat hard surface(Don't practice on the carpet!) Also when practicing turn off the air conditioning.  It is bad for your muscles and joints to practice in a cold environment.  It is also known that practicing yoga in the heat is very good for the blood flow, and concentration.  You should also avoid any distractions.  Turn off your phone, put your pets in their place, and whatever else that may distract you while practicing.  One last thing, you do not need an expensive yoga mat, you can use a large towel.

When you first start to practice yoga, make sure you start with yoga for beginners videos.  Do not push yourself!  You first need to learn the basics, such as how to breathe properly while practicing, how to stretch before and after, and how to concentrate while practicing.  These are the most important things to learn when practicing yoga.

The key to have a great yoga practice is to accomplish training your mind into positive thinking.  Once you have trained your mind and have gotten rid of all negative thinking, the possibilities are endless!  This is key when practicing yoga your mind is controlling your body, so if you control your mind than you can in fact control your body.

Once you feel comfortable with beginners postures you can move on to the more advanced yoga.  The Ashtanga series is a great practice when learning the more advanced postures.  If you feel as though you cannot concentrate and you are getting more and more frustrated go back to the basics.  Yoga should not be disappointing, just relax and do not be hard on yourself.  The more and more you judge yourself, the more limits or boundaries you make.  You should know that yoga is a way of life, not religion, but a way of thinking I should say.  The more expanded your mind becomes, the more postures and yoga practice there is to learn.

Interesting Hub. I just wonder how long it would take for me to do the positions in your pictures.

Thanks Lady_E, it might not take as long as you think. This posture is called the "scorpion".
