Yoga Improvisations

Not everyone has enough mula to spend on expensive yoga studios and elite yoga classes, that's why I'm going to discuss thrifty and innovative ways for you to get the most out of your yoga practice in your own home.
Yoga Mats - These things have become so ridiculously expensive and popular it's quite sickening. Let me give you some advice...You DON'T need a radical yoga mat to call yourself a student! It's so funny how yoga became so commercial and trendy here in the west. Sometimes I feel like I 'm back in high school when I go to a yoga class. The popular people with their Fuji water, name-brand yoga attire, and let's not forget their high-and-mighty slip-proof over fifty dollar yoga mats! Me? I show up in my stretchy pants and a t-shirt with my Brita-filtered water in my own thermos, and a beach towel for my yoga mat. Damn right! I said a beach towel! It gives me better balance. So when you feel like practicing at home just use a large towel on a hard surface. Or you can buy an inexpensive yoga mat with no frills at Wally World...a.k.a Wal-mart. Another nugget of advice, don't purchase Anything at the yoga studio, never, it's gross how much they charge people.
Hot Class - If you don't have time for these classes, or the money you can always improvise! Or if you're like me and you get somewhat embarrassed after class because you look as though you just finished mowing the lawn, do it at home! If it's a hot day turn off the AC and open all of the windows for a little while, until you are comfortable with the heat, then close the windows. Then you can begin watching one of your favorite yoga videos, not for too long don't push yourself, when you feel like you cannot take the heat, quit. If it's cold outside, turn the heater on for a little while, or light the fireplace, or purchase a space-heater and put it in the room where you practice.
I'm All Alone! - If you don't feel comfortable practicing yoga by yourself invite some friends over and practice together. This is so inspiring all around, and you can introduce your friends to a great thing! Have a certain day where you and your friends practice and trust me you will never go to the studio again. Who knows maybe this will inspire you to become an instructor!
Yoga Retreats - My favorite, now that you won't be needing those expensive classes you can save the money for what you've always wanted to do. Going to those exotic yoga retreats. All of the money you'll be saving from not driving to the studio, paying for a membership or even for each class, and not keeping up with the 'cool' kids you can put to good use. How 'bout that?
