You Found Me
I was afraid of falling in love
I'd been burned too many times before
I told you I needed time to find myself
You couldn't understand what I was looking for
You stood patiently by my side
I said I never had a greater friend than you
I was blinded by my idiotic pride
To see just how much those words stung you
Then you said you loved me, that you always had
The thought of hurting you caused me physical pain
"You love me too, you just don't know it yet"
Friends we are and friends we must remain
I was too scared to ruin our friendship to risk it
I realize now you know me better than I do
I thank God today for how much you persisted
It took me months to find what you said was true
Five years, a marriage and a baby later
My life can't possibly be any better
I said once I needed time to find myself
And after all was said and done it was you who found me

Thank you for the compliment. I'm glad you liked it. True story, too!
Very nice indeed!!
Thank you R. Blue. I'm glad you think so.
nice one again
Oh, Azur Moon Wolf, I got goose bumps reading this one! What a beautiful story. I have always been a sucker for happy endings. :-)
Thanks, Lgali.
Thanks, Whikat. I'm glad you liked. I'm a sucker for happy endings, too, and feel lucky to have had one of my own.
Oh now I just feel like an ol' softy.
Ol' softies are nice, though! Thank you for reading and for the comment!
I think we are all true romantics and thats why we are all softies...LOL
I agree, LA. Love is just so... lovely!
yes it is...by the way, what made you pick such a lovely profile name Azur?
The wolf is my spirit animal and my favorite color is blue and I'm mostly Portuguese, so blue in Portuguese is Azur. It's a little weird, but I like it! :)
interesting....wow! I know in spanish its Azul. Neat how some words are different by just a few letters. I knew Azur is a name in the Bible too. So I wondered. I like it!! And Blue is my favorite color too! Nice!
Oops, I meant it is spelled 'azul' in Portuguese, but 'azure' in English is a shade of blue - I just don't like the e at the end. I'm a bit quirky.
A lot of Spanish and Portuguese words are exactly the same, just the "S" is pronounced differently.
Azur, you are a romantic aren't you. I've lost my way in that department; I'll have to live vicariously through you.
Guilty as charged! I don't know about you, but some of the poems you've written say otherwise!
no words to express its beauty...!
Why, thank you so much Umna!
