Geocaching is now a worldwide sport, and its fans are avid, and some might even say they are insanely avid. It's a hugely popular global treasure hunting game that uses the web to list, and a GPS device to conceal and seek treasure (caches).

Even though it is pronounced and sounds like Geo Cashing, it is basically spelled geocaching. The 'geo' part stands for geography, and the 'caching' part stands for hiding a cache (something of value ).

In PC terms a cache is information stored in memory which can be retrieved simply. A cache, in camping and hiking language is a place where provisions are hidden and stored.

However the more troublesome caches can be highly challenging, even daring, to the most intrepid and athletic of participants. Beginners, just getting their feet wet, often begin with the less complicated rated caches just till they catch on to the basic methods.

Also, newbies will want to get familiar with the easiest way to program and use their GPS unit, and they may also wish to begin amassing the various items of equipment they will need before they're going after the tougher caches.

In geocaching, the GPS is utilized to navigate from your present location to the site of the cache you have selected. You simply could not play the game without a GPS unit.

The GPS is really a PC that is capable of receiving signals from GPS satellites ; to be actually accurate, it has to receive signals from four satellites, however, with signals from 3 satellites it can establish its general location.

Great Online Prices For GPS Units

Search on the net for GPS units, here's where you will, most likely, find the real bargains. Or, naturally, they may also be bought at dept, electronic, and camping and boat supply stores.

The rules for Geocaching are pretty simple ; if you take something (swag) from the cache you have found, leave something of equal or bigger price; make a notation in the cache logbook about your find; and, also go online to the same site where you found your information about the cache and log about your experience.

Every cache contains a logbook, and information from the owner of the cache. It might also contain notes from other visitors and valuable information or treasure.

The contest to find the cache first can become fierce. The cache can either be placed above or below ground, or on the outside of buildings. It can become maddening to not be able to find the cache when you know that you are standing inside feet of it.

You need to discover a cache near you, treasure hunts or caches are listed online for everyone to see.

Geocaching actually does answer the call to adventure irrespective of what your level of expertise could be. Be sure to visit my site "Why Is Geocaching So Cool"?

This really sounds interesting and fun. I can really see why people would do this. There's nothing like a big adventure.

This sounds like so much fun. My son would love it. I'd better not tell him or he'll be wanting one of those kits for Christmas.
