Reeds Gold Mine

Reed’s Gold mine is Close to Charlotte North Carolina is a place that is rich in not only history but also rich in gold.  This historical Site has been around since the 1700’s and is still giving up gold today.  At one time North Carolina was the place to be to mine for gold and get rich. This was before the California Gold Rush. Reed’s Gold mine is said to be the area of the discovery of gold.  There are great stories of the settlement of area for John Reed’s gold mine.  It is said that there has been millions of dollars worth of gold has been mined from this mine.  A nugget weighing 17 pounds of pure gold has been found there in the late 1800’s near the surface, and other big finds have been documented from the mine.  Since then more gold has been found and attracts thousands or people yearly to prospect for gold.

The gold mine is located in Concord North Carolina and is nestled in farmland that is peaceful and relaxing.  There are several things that you can do at the mine. Of course you can pan for gold. But there are tours of the mine. In fact some of the tunnels underground are open and part of a guided tour where you can actually go into the mine itself as part of the tour. You can see films of the gold from there and learn about mining. There are several picnic tables that are shaded and great to have a family picnic and there are trails that you can walk.


>You can search for your own gold treasures you can purchase a pan and pan for gold on site, it really isn’t that expensive to get a pan and to pan for the gold. It can be affordable for the entire family to pan for gold then to have a picnic lunch and go on a tour, then walk the trails.
