YouTube has started sharing revenues with its top users, and submitting videos to it is one of the best online money making ideas. The obvious way is to upload videos that can attract a lot of traffic. The question is what nature of videos does the YouTube crowd love? Most popular videos are capturing images of unexpected situations, including funny reactions and facial expressions, a person jumping out of fear, or something gone wrong. Movies of children giving funny statements or having certain funny reactions have been amongst the most popular, generating millions of views.

The second kind of video that has been particularly loved are those of dancing, with specific break dance moves that people would like to emulate. It is not hard to find popular dance moves and even videos admired by those who do not practice dance per se. Some dances become popular because of their fun appeal or their location. Videos with “pretty” people, such as the Obama girls, have aesthetic appeal and therefore become popular among a large online population. All too often such videos are accompanied by stupid and funny actions, giving people a good laugh. More often than not, funny videos are a way for people to take a break from their everyday routine. YouTube, even at work, is often a nice a break from monotony, an outlet for chuckling and giggling. Music videos or clips of videos from movies also carry a lot of entertainment value. For these types of videos, a person does not need to use their own creativity, but rather cash in on the entertainment value of other celebrities.

Therefore it is about increasing one’s own entertainment value. Once you start attracting attention and a crowd, an invitation from YouTube to become a partner is the only thing needed. In return, they will display advertisements on your page and this way you get to share the profits. This new method of publishing for everyday users to develop a fan following has often been termed “democratization” of the media. All too often, making YouTube videos and creating one’s own entertainment value requires simply a camera and something to show to people in the end; it is one of the cheapest home money making ideas. If you think you have the will to pull off something entertaining, attract people through gossip, jokes, or even just the entertainment value of other people, YouTube is the place to make the money. But be careful, all too often YouTube does not allow ads to be posted alongside content that the person uploading the video does not own the copyrights to.
