You dont even know

I was inspired to write this article after going to a Jonas brother's concert with my daughter. Nick Jonas wrote a song after being diagnosed with diabetes. He writes about how he felt no one really understood what he was going through, some of the lyrics state, "you don't even know". That gave me something to think about. I often find when ive went through a particular situation that others will never know what its like. I truly believe that you can't know what someone has been through unless you have been through the same thing. I don't think that empathy can honestly be achieved, we can try to empathize, but can you really ever know what someone is going through, or has went through? I think not, does it serve justice to say things like, "I can relate", or "I understand". Do you really, even better, can you really? Just something to ponder on.
