How Generating Attraction with your DOV Can Make or Break Your Work From Home Opportunity

A Demonstration of Value, or DOV, can be of two types:

1. Demonstration of Higher Value

2. Demonstration of Lower Value

Either way, your demonstration of value to your customer or prospect is key to success or failure in your work from home opportunity. Success in any business is about leadership and your DOV is a key link to this chain. Without it, you are just spinning your wheels.

Much has been said lately about the latest model of attracting prospects to you utilizing the techniques of attraction marketing. Attraction Marketing is all about value. Giving value first and opportunity second. If you do not demonstrate that your value is equal to or greater than your customer or prospect, then why would they listen to what you have to say? They won't .... plain and simple. Success in any business is about leadership and you must demonstrate that you are a leader through both verbal and non-verbal (or written) communication.

This makes perfect sense and it is a great concept, but how do you demonstrate value when interacting with potential prospects or customers?

Let's start with your DHV - a demonstration of higher value.

Some common characteristics of a person with higher value would be the following:

. They are healthy and fit. This doesn't mean you have to be a 115 # supermodel or football jock to demonstrate a higher value to people. It simply means presenting yourself as someone who is confident, secure and mentally fit. Your weight and looks are really not the key here - it is how well you take care of yourself both internally and externally that matters. If you don't take of yourself, then how can you take care of someone else that might want to join you in your work from home opportunity or purchase a product from you? If you don't feel good about yourself, then you naturally will not demonstrate a higher value to others.

. They are unaffected by others. No need to try and impress people. People who are successful and confident in their abilities, do not need to blow their own horn. Think Eric Clapton. Does Eric Clapton need to remind people how great he is on guitar? Does he have to try and impress others? No. He is a natural leader and is worshiped by many guitar afficionados around the world. Why? Because he is talented, he has shown his ability throughout the years and he has demonstrated his leadership in his genre. He has a DHV with his fan base around the globe and they would listen to anything he had to say in his field of expertise and maybe even beyond. He is not trying to impress others. He is confident and unaffected by what others think and if you want to follow him, great, if not, it is basically your decision and/or your loss.

If you become knowledgeable in your field - study and learn and know what you are talking about - people will naturally gravitate towards you and perceive you as a leader. You don't necessarily have to be an expert; nor do you even have to be a leader at this point - but perception is so key to this and your perception to others will determine whether they follow you or gravitate away from you. Think of this as a new way of recruiting for the 21st century.

. Don't be needy. Neediness is such an unattractive trait. Neediness comes from being emotionally attached to a specific outcome. It is such a counter-productive trait and it can kill your business and leave you wondering what went wrong. A person with higher value is never needy. They are very comfortable with who they are and where they are - regardless of whether they are just starting out or they are very successful. This is so critically important to success. People will NEVER perceive you as a leader if you do not learn how to feel confident and comfortable with any outcome. Become detached emotionally when working with prospects and/or customers. When you are emotionally attached, your neediness will be picked up by your prospects and they will perceive you as a person with lower value (DLV). Don't let this happen to you. It is very important to feel and convey a sense of abundance and success to others.

Now that we've covered some of the most common characteristics of a DHV, let's move on to DLV or Demonstrations of Lower Value to avoid in your work from home business.

. Leaving a voicemail more than once. Needy. Here we go again. Should you call a lead and leave a voicemail if they don't answer? Absolutely. But leave it once, that's it. Calling and leaving it more than once reduces you to someone of lower value to that prospect. Successful people do not need the validation from others that they are successful. They don't seek immediate responses or attention from others. Once you have called them more than once, you have transitioned the power base from you to them. Bad move. Once they have the power, then they have the control and your chances of success with them have all but diminished.

. E-Mailing with the words "feel free to call me with any questions". Why do you want to give them the control to call you? Isn't your time valuable? Aren't they lucky to find you? Should you be sitting by the phone waiting for them to call you? This type of wording in an e-mail screams of DLV. Don't do it and if you are doing it, stop now. So what should you say?

The best way to demonstrate higher value in an e-mail is to teach your readers something and be looked upon as an expert. Provide the reader with value - don't just send a blurb about visiting your website and feel free to call when they have a chance. They won't and why should they? Don't pitch your opportunity in an e-mail; instead send your prospects somthing they will find valuable and useful - perhaps a story about an event you attended and what you learned at the event. Include pictures from a company seminar or a personal story about someone who had great success utilizing some form of marketing and how they did it - what they used, who they spoke with, etc. Offer value in an e-mail and make them want more. Start branding yourself as a leader in your field and your DOV will skyrocket.

. Scheduling a follow-up appointment - now this one threw me at first too but according to Mike Dillard of Black Belt Recruiting, he never schedules follow-up appointments and he knows a thing or two about DHV. His reasoning? Your time is too valuable to make a prospect a priority in your day unless they are serious about joining your opportunity. So instead of scheduling a follow-up, give the prospects a specific set of instructions on what they need to do next if they are interested in joining your opportunity. Tell them to visit your website, look at the information and get back with you within 48 hours with a list of questions if any arise.

Then, let them go. If they don't get back to you, you should not care; and if you are a student of attraction marketing, then you already know how to build your own list of endless targted leads so you always have people in your pipeline. This makes it so much easier to let someone go and create the mindset you need to be successful.

After careful review, this makes perfect sense. It takes a little getting used to and might seem so completely counter to everything you have been taught but it is a perfect way to put yourself in the position of control which leads directly to a demonstration of higher value to the prospect. No need to box them into choosing one or two time slots - make them make the first move if they really are interested.

This is true in life as well as in your business.

How you present yourself to others is crucial to how others will perceive you and it can be the line in the sand for whether someone joins you or moves away from you.

Demonstrate that you are a leader. Demonstrate that you have value to offer. Your DOV will make or break you in this business. Don't be selfish, don't be desperate and most of all, do not be needy. In this uncertain economy and these tumultuous times, people are looking for someone who can help them and lead them in the right direction.

Let that person be you. Rise above the fray and become the person whom others want to follow.

You will see amazing results just by making these adjustments to your way of thinking.

Remember, "he who cares the least, holds the power".
