Getting Your First Tattoo

Getting your first tattoo doesn't have to be as scary and confusing as most people think. One of the two biggest fears I had was, would I like it after I got it, and what would others think of it. These fears can easily be subdued by getting the tattoo drawn on your before you commit to real ink. If you have some idea of the tattoo you want to get, you can either draw it on yourself or ask an artist to do it for you. Most artist will be happy to stencil the design on you as long as you let them know you are serious about getting one. I had 3 different designs drawn on me before I got mine. Sure, it took some time to figure out what I wanted, but in the long run I'm glad I did.

I think most people who end up getting their tattoo removed really didn't think it through, or they were pressured to get it in the first place. Make sure your design is something of your own choosing and not what you would think would please others. I have also heard of many people regretting their size of their tattoo. This again can be solved by drawling or stenciling it in before hand and taking it for a test drive. Remember, just because the artist has stenciled in the design doesn't mean you have to go ahead and get it. If you have any doubts, wear it for a few days and come back.

Your First Tatoo

Remember not to rush yourself, you will be glad you didn't. Once you pick out your design its time to pick your artist. I personally did this by talking with each one and taking a very close look at their portfolio. Most artist have their own portfolio which they would be happy to show you. If you ever feel pressured, it's time to leave. Don't be shy about meeting with a few artist around where you live, they all have their pros and cons. You will soon find one who will suit your individual needs.

After you get your first tattoo it takes about 1 month to fully heal. The only main concern during this time is keeping it clean. You can easily do this by washing it with water and a mild soap a couple times of time throughout the day. Before you know it, it will be healed and ready to be revealed to the world.

If your looking for that perfect design check out chopper tattoo. They have thousands of deisgns on your quest for the perfect first tattoo.
