Your Popcorn Machine
75I know we all would love to have movie theater popcorn at home and many of us strive for that perfection without much success. There are certain secrets that can help you achieve that perfect popcorn taste, but the other secret is the popcorn machine you use. There are several different types and models and each popcorn machine has its own pros and cons and to find that delicate balance is a trick. We know that unless we can afford to have a commercial popcorn machine in our house, much less the room, we will have to sacrifice a little on the perfection of movie theater popcorn, but not much if you do your research!
Air Poppers - The Healthy Popcorn Machine
By now you probably know that air poppers leave a lot to be desired when it comes to the perfect tasting popcorn. These popcorn machines are not this author's first choice, although for health reasons they should be! Air poppers do not use oil to pop the popcorn, instead they used extremely high heated air to do it. The popcorn tends to be very evenly popped and normally you do not have burned popcorn. Stinky! This type of popcorn is very healthy for you because of the lack of oil and if you do not use butter or salt you have a very low calorie healthy snack.
However, this method gives you a very plain tasting popcorn, but it is the preference for many of you. If you are looking for the flavor of the movie theater popcorn, then these air poppers are not the popcorn machines for you.
Oil Popcorn Machines
Popcorn machines that use oil are the holy grail of home popcorn machines. Here is where you should base most of your research when looking for the perfect popcorn machine that will give you that movie theater taste. There are many different models of this type of popcorn machine and they produce just as many results. Some will pop evenly and others will leave a lot of un-popped kernels. Some will burn your popcorn and others will pop it perfectly, but may be so hard to use that it isn't worth the trouble. The key to find your perfect popcorn machine is to find what would work best for you. All the oil popcorn machines use oil which is the key to the perfect taste. Some will have built in butter melters, but don't let this be a decision maker or breaker for you and I will tell you why.
The secret to the perfect movie popcorn taste is popping the kernels in butter and coconut oil! No joke, the movie theaters use coconut oil to pop their popcorn in. Here is a great benefit, coconut oil is much healthier for you than vegetable oil but is more expensive. You will have to experiment with your popcorn machine and the combination of butter and coconut oil/vegetable oil that produces the perfect taste for you, but I have just told you the secret.
Mixes are also available for purchase that allow you to
