Your Theme Song

Superheroes have them, professional wrestlers have them, even Sir Robin from Monty Python: The Quest for the Holy Grail has one! You can have one too; all you have to do is find one that fits you.

It's good to have your own theme song guy.
It's good to have your own theme song guy.

A.. theme song?

Why not get yourself a theme song? It's easy!

A theme song should represent you, the mood and attitude you present, and should stand out amongst the theme songs of others. While picking a theme song from the top 40 is all right, chances are it won’t bring you into the forefront of your audience’s mind when they hear it played elsewhere. The idea here is to make a lasting impression, through music.

So, uh, how does one precisely go about choosing what kind of song would be right for them?

Picking your theme song

Well, consider first your personality. Are you a peppy, energetic person? Are you quiet and withdrawn? What if you’re the joker of your social group? Don’t worry, there is a song out there for everyone, and your theme song should fall right in line with your personality. If you are a quiet person by nature, playing a song with a fast beat and lots of singing and musical accompaniment would probably be a bad idea. Likewise, if you are naturally energetic, you shouldn’t choose a lullaby. Get the idea? Ok, next phase…

A theme song also conveys a certain mood to your audience. Think about what music truly moves you, and then ask yourself: “Would this song make other people feel something?” If the answer is yes, then you need to figure out what that something the audience would feel is. Your choices are narrowing down now, aren’t they?

Your look, the style you present yourself in, should also coincide with the theme song. You do have a great deal of flexibility in this area, depending on how much of a statement you want your song to make. You rebel, you.

Ready to Choose?

Crunch time: What did you pick?

Here’s mine:

I am a casual, laid back person who has been through very rough emotional times. My theme song is sung by a woman who I respect and admire for her talent and tenacity through times of emotional strife and hardship. It is sedate, somewhat misunderstood, and projects a thoughtful and sensitive aura. My theme song is Baker, Baker by Tori Amos. You can find the lyrics here.

Interesting hub, Gamer! I actually have had a theme song for a few years now. I have a determined personality so it fit me well and is also motivational as well. I chose "The River" by Garth Brooks. You can read the lyrics here http://www.songlyrics.com/song-lyrics/Garth_Brooks

I even have this song on my MySpace profile page. It has been my favorite since the first time I heard it.

I've always liked the idea of having a theme song...mine tends to change, though. At the moment, it's Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb".

Good hub. Something good to think about, I think.

This is something I'll have to put more thought into. I think right now mine would be "Let's Go Crazy" by Prince--because I have a toddler that has the flu!

Hmm...

I don't know what mine would be, but I know what I'm going to be thinking about for the next week! Thanks for the food for thought and the fun read!

Daily mantra given by Mary J. Blige called “Just fine”

“Feels so good, when you’re doing all the things that you want to do Get the best out of life, treat yourself to something new Keep your head up high In yourself, believe in you, believe in me Having a really good time, I’m not complaining And I’m a still wear a smile if it raining I got to enjoy myself regardless I appreciate life, I’m so glad I got mine So I like what I see when I’m looking at me When I’m walking past the mirror Aint worried about you and what you gonna do I’m a lady so I must stay classy Got to keep it hot, keep it together If I want to get better"

I love this HUB gamergirl! Maybe I'll put a list together of anthems.

Did you ever see the Family Guy where Peter gets three wishes and he wishes for theme music where ever he goes? So funny.

I really like the way you think. I need to get one fast before I get assigned one by some miscreant who thinks they can "personalize" me by the ring-tone they hear when I call.
