Before you start on a weight loss program keep a food journal for a week or two so you can see exactly what you are eating on a daily basis. I would almost bet you that you will be really surprised at how much food you are eating on a daily basis.

Beer causes more weight gain in men than anything else. That and all those quick tasty snacks you pick up to go with the beer. Try doing with out any bread at all when ever you are drinking beer. You won't believe how much weight beer and bread can pack on you.

Cheeseburgers with all the trimmings and fried potatoes cause women to gain weight faster than anything else. Try eating just hamburger steaks with out the bread and trimmings and also leave off the fried potatoes.

Sliced cucumbers with salt and pepper make a great snack you can eat while your setting around watching T.V. The cucumbers will fill you up and keep you away from the fried chicken and more.

If you do have a thyroid problem not only can a medical specialist who specializes in thyroid problems help you but you can also seek help from a nutritionist who will be able to give you a lot of help with menu planning and calorie intake. Keep in mind that even if you do not have a thyroid problem that keeping a food intake journal can quite often give you really great information that you can use to establish a weight loss program for you.
