Your thoughts please on gay relationship and/or gay marriages.
59Well, Pope Benedict XVI said the other day that saving the human race from homosexuality/homosexual behavior is just as important as saving rainforests. A lot of people were outraged by that statement and so was I, but it reminds one of the opposition gays face from orthodoxy. The comparison was ridiculous quite frankly. I mean rainforests and homosexuality - how can they be compared? What was The Pople thinking?
Personally, I don't have a problem with gay relationships or gay marriages. Its a personal choice, and if the two people making that choice are okay with it, why should I object or be bothered about it? The people who say that the primary objective of marriage is procreation are right biologically. However, humanity isn't going to be threatened with extinction if a section of humans decide to marry for non-procreational reasons.
Sexual choices should be a private matter for individuals to decide. I don't think the church or state should seek to interfere with them.

homosexuality is not only about sex. it's probably about two people who love each other. homosexuality has been around since the begininng of time. it's no one's business who these people are screwing but their own. i think people need to occupy themselves by minding their own business. i would be pissed if someone told me "i don't like the fact that your girlfriend is ugly, or fat, or stupid" it's my own business. what if i like screwing ugly, fat, stupid girls? it's my choice. and if I want to marry this ugly, fat, stupid girl, that's my business too.
Well actually the Pope never even said that. He has been grossly missreported. He did not even mention any homosexual or transsexual groups. In fact he was speaking about the Church’s public responsibility for creation; an ecology of creation which includes defending mankind from self-destruction. The key phrase which has been grossly misinterpreted stated that “mankind merits no less protection than the tropical rainforests.”
The Pope further upholds marriage by referring to scholastic theologians who held marriage as a lifelong bond between a man and a woman. The Book of Genesis clearly states that a man leaves his father and mother, and attached to his wife and through sexual union become one flesh.

Absolutely right, spot on! Homophobia is another intolerant and unaccepting viewpoint.
Our own Archbishop Tutu, one who is not unintelligent nor theologically unsound or even radical, once commented that Jesus must be weeping at the way the church treats gays and lesbians. I totally agree.
Why don't we just accept that some people make different choices from the ones we make? Gays and lesbians don't hurt others or do anything to them any more than so-called straight people do. In fact, probably rather less than straight people do.
Thanks for opening the debate, which I'm sure will get somewhat heated!
Love and peace,
Tony
