The anime introduced the Yugioh Egyptian god cards. Modeled after image is carved into a stone tablet that was believed to house the nameless Pharaoh's memories, these cards were designed by Maximilian Pegasus to be very powerful. These three cards are often considered to be overpowered in the real-life version of the Yugioh trading cards game. There exists one card for all three playable Egyptian gods. These cards are The Winged Dragon of Ra, Obelisk the Tormentor, and Slifer the Sky Dragon.

The cartoon shows the cards being used in several ways including to unlock the Pharaoh's memories and then to serve as the target of Marik's desire to have the Pharaoh's power. Soon after we see the cards as part of a plot to resurrect a 10,000 year old monster. The monster is known as the great Leviathan and was intended to destroy the world. Toward the end we see the cards used for the Pharaoh to construct a world of his own memories and then fight a very ancient enemy. It is then that the Pharaoh merges all three of the gods into one very powerful monster called the Creator of Light – Horakhty.

If a player added one of these cards to their deck they would have a card that is very, very high in attack power for any one player. So you would be smart if you were to own at least one of these cards in case you end up dueling someone else with the same cards. You don't want your opponent to have an advantage by playing Obelisk the Tormentor or Slifer the Sky Dragon against your most powerful cards, just to watch them destroyed and lose all chances of winning the duel.

Realize too that these cards are typically viewed as overpowered and thus too difficult to play against for real-life duels and tournaments. You can expect to see them banned from play, unless you are using them for friendly duels.
