Yum-O Healthy Foods

I love my field of expertise. I love exercise & nutrition & health--I love knowing how my body functions a certain way & how I can help it to function more effectively. But, I also don't want to be one of those obnoxious fitness gurus who can't socialize because everyone's too nervous to eat normally around them.

My husband & I just moved back to an area we used to live, & we're starting the socialization ritual of getting together with other couples & feeling out what "fits" & what doesn't. Last night we met up with some great people & hung out. We had a blast--it was awesome, but the snacks on hand were stuff we don't usually eat: candy bars, chips, Taco Bell. The fact is, I'm okay with this. I'm well aware that Lance & I are the abnormal ones, & I don't want others to feel like we're "judging them" because we eat differently. It's times like these that I wish I had a food allergy & could just say, "oh, yeah, well I've got Celiac Disease, or else I'd be eating those with you!"

But, really, I wouldn't be. I love healthy snacks & food. I crave the stuff. I love whole wheat bread & natural peanut butter and LOTS of fruits and vegetables. I wasn't always like this, but over time it's what I've gotten used to, & most other foods just taste...empty.

But in an effort not to be the obnoxious health guru, I don't talk about this stuff. I keep my mouth shut & don't say anything, & in situations where there aren't many healthy options, I eat what's available because I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb. BUT, if someone starts asking questions, it's like the dam is burst open & I can't stop talking. So, if you're interested in health, fitness, or yummy healthy nutrition, please, don't hesitate to ask--I LOVE to share!

-Boss, I was hoping you'd also have some examples of "Yum-O" foods and snacks. My latest passions are dark chocolate-covered pomegranatebits (found them in the gourmet chocolate section at Wal-Mart), and dried cantaloupe (happened upon this at Bi-Mart). Both are very delicious and come in bags which are in no way big enough.

Sorry about that--I can add some later, but I actually wrote this on another blog & just transferred it--it didn't transfer all that well. Those snacks sound great--especially the pomegranate bits.
