Zooey Claire Deschanel is an American actress, musician and singer. This multi-talented female was born on January 17, 1980, in Los Angeles, California.
Zooey's name was inspired by the male character in legendary author J.D. Salinger's classic novel, Franny and Zooey. Zooey Deschanel had the good fortune of being born into a showbiz family; her father Caleb is an Oscar-nominated cinematographer, while her mother Mary Jo is an accomplished actress. Her older sister Emily is also an actress.
Deschanel made her film debut in 1999's Mumford and then appeared in several critically acclaimed movies like 2000's Almost Famous, 2002's The Good Girl, 2003's Elf, and 2008's The Happening with Mark Wahlberg.
