Buddhism is a family of beliefs and practices considered by many a religion based on the teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha (the Enlightened One), who was born in what is now Nepal. He lived and taught in the northeast of the Indian subcontinent and probably died around 400 BC.

Philosophy

Studying Zen
is to study yourself.
Study itself
is to forget yourself.
Forget yourself
is being one with everything.
Master Dogen

The Zen Monastery Hill Vargem was established following the secular Soto Zen, introduced in Japan in the thirteenth century by Master Dogen Zenji (1200-1253), founder of Eihei-ji monastery in 1244. Throughout his life, Master Dogen emphasized the importance of simplicity, discipline and practice of zazen, sitting meditation.
