I have a Discover card and I pay off my Discover card each and every month. I earn reward dollars and I simply use them to pay off my balance a couple of times a year. It's like receiving cash.
Tip: Lets say you are approved and receive your new credit card. After a few months of paying the balance down give the credit card company a call and ask for a lower APR (annual percentage rate). Many credit card companies will lower your APR because you have paid your payments on time.

After spending an unpleasant 15 minutes with a rude lady who could not be made to understand that my credit limit was $1,000 not $300 as she insisted. The Oct bill shows that my balance is $47.16 and my credit limit is $1,000. Her refusal to accept a $200 charge cost me considerable time and effort. I will be paying the $47.16 on or about 4 October and I wish to close my account if this is the type of employee I have to deal with.
