Zombie Nanner Gang
66Come Join the Fun
Late one night in an Etsy chatroom three of us started talking about ways to get out of our creative ruts and go forth and make wild new things. The downside of selling arts and crafts for a living is that after a time you tend to make what sells, or what you think will sell, and lose some of the spontaneity for creating just for the love and joy of making something with your hands and your soul and your spirit. Our original three founding members are myself, Lanee' and Zethan.
So the three of us decided to start a blog. After some silliness over names and the giddiness from being awake at 3 AM, we settled on the name Zombie Nanner Gang. Each day we come up with a challenge. I'm trying to get them to spawn an idea with an adjective and a noun, like Drunk Monkey or Orange Purse or Flying Pickle.
The project doesn't have to be finished in one day. But each day we do our best to post a photo of that days project.
We are looking for more people. Here is a blurb from the blog:
"We still have four artist spots to fill. That way each person can name the challenge for one day of the week. Of course as many people as want to can do the entry for the day. There is no judging or prizes or anything, just an opportunity to stretch your creative muscles and explore the fun of trying new techniques and reaching beyond your comfort zone. The crafts don't have to be good enough to sell or even long lasting for that matter. It's all about the process. You can write all about each day in your art journal or on your blog or on Twitter, or wherever you share your creative talents. The Zombie Nanner Gang is already showing up in the search engines and that could be your art showing up too, if you jump into the soup with us. Whatcha waitin' for? Even if you can only do it once or twice a week that's fine. Also, it's suitable for kids. Sometimes kids can make the best flying pickles or singing cowboys out there. You could do it as a family or a homeschooling project. Summer is winding down and the boredom sets in for many of us. So hop on and do a few fun projects with us before school starts."
Once we have 7 people to come up with the daily topics, other people can still join and participate. The more the merrier I say. I'm personally trying to do it daily, but some of us are doing it weekly as fits our schedules. It's been so much fun so far. I'll put the blog RSS feed at the bottom of this article.
Some of Our Challenges
Now What?
After the day's challenge is over, you can do whatever you want with your creations. You still own all the rights to them. So you can keep them, give them as gifts, or sell them. It's all up to you.

- Zombie Nanner Gang & the Theater of the Absurd
For those of you that want to join the Zombie Nanner Gang, I just posted the list of October themes. Last night I stayed up till 3 AM making a blog called Theodora's Theater of the Absurd. Shows you where my head is at 3 AM. Right now I'm working on my cat applique project and also cutting more 2"squares for my postage stamp quilt. But my boyfriend started working on his drum in the same room, and it was getting tense so I came to see what was going on in Etsy and Bloggerland.
- A Few Changes
To make things more efficient and easier to understand, I've made the list for October all at once. That way you can plan ahead for supplies or garage sale finds. I'm not trying to hog up all the fun. If one of you wants to come up with a list for all of November or another for all of December just let me know. Right now I think I'm the only one participating, but if not just speak up. When Oct. starts winding to a close and if no one has spoken up I'll make the November list.
- Time to Decorate for Halloween.
It's October and I'm busy making Halloween decorations. I see some of the projects we've made here will work for Halloween too, like my witch doll and the gothic wings if I get those made. My Halloween theme this year is Theater of the Absurd.
