Animals at our Local Zoo: Bison & Deer
63The Indian Bison or Gaur
When they opened the Vandalur zoo, near Chennai, India, they had only one Indian Bison. He's that reclining black chap in the third picture. Now they have about four. Some of them are quite young, and have a teenager's attitude! Look at their hair! My son shot the teenagers, but I relate to that magnificient guy there, and took his pic!
My Dear Friends!
Who said zoos don't have a sense of humour? Ours has. They have gone and spelt it 'Dear.' It shows, of course, that the keepers are very affectionate towards these gentle people. It was feeding time, and they were all around the watering trough or the lunch table.

Hehe, Frank, must be exactly like you said!
Thank you for making me feel surpassing!
This was a charming hub, Would you believe I have only seen a deer up close outside a zoo? It was when I first moved to where I live, and it was quite a beautiful experience meeting one. And why, is it that the mark of teenage rebellion is the hair? LOL! I remember my Mother fussing with me because of my wild hair, and on it has gone down to the new generation of teenagers in our family. LOL!
I love these pictures. No bars. It's wonderful. Luck for us who can't be there to still be able to see these majestic creatures because of you. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Violet, thanks for your visit, and sorry for visiting my issues on you! Thing is, I have a current problem with my son's hair, which is longer than his mother wants it to be. LOL! You're lucky to see a deer outide a zoo. I have seen one, too, once.
Thanks, Stanskill, kind comment, much appreciated.
Kenny..great Hub and it made me think to tell you about the wild Elk that roam around this town..the herd has been on my 3.5 acres many times and they are so beautiful..eat lots of trees that are young but I don't really care. they roam free and a couple of them have collars on them that make the electronic signs light up to warn drivers on the by-pass they are in the area.I believe the herd is now up to 45 elk. We have lot's of open space here and have many photo's of these wonderful creatures. Love your work G-Ma :O)
What a wonderful place you live in G-Ma! Oh give me a home, where the elks roam!
Why don't you put up a hub with them? Please, please?
good idea Kenny..It is really wonderful G-Ma :O)
Thank you for honouring my request, G-Ma! :)
i love the bison pictures!=]
Tell me when you do a bison hub, Jackilyn. :)

Aw, thanks, Abhinaya, such kind comments make me feel good about having shared these pictures! But please take your family there for a great time, and tell us about it.
Thank you Patty! There's no zoo near where you live? Or no time?
Thanks, SUPER BEE!
The Swamp Dear.. I love that typo...too cute!!! Or was it an intentional play on words? :) Great pics!
Don't think it was intentional, Isabella. A nice slip!

that black guy was having a prelunch break. Someone told him he would be busy tonight specially if they were going to whisper Dear.
