Zoso: Jimmy Page's Symbol on the Led Zeppelin IV Album
66
When Led Zeppelin was recording their 4th album, Jimmy Page convinced the other three band members to choose symbols to represent their names on the album cover like he did. The name of the album was the four symbols, and it created a huge problem for record companies trying to put the album name on their charts. Jimmy Page said the symbols were taken from simple text when the Led Zeppelin fans started looking. They found three of them easily, but Page’s symbol, Zoso, was strange and hard to find.
One researcher has found a very simple explanation for the Zoso symbol. He has come to the conclusion that it has nothing to do with Satan or 3-headed dogs guarding the gates of Hades. It is simply a symbol for the planet Saturn. Saturn is the ruler of Jimmy Page’s astrological sign Capricorn. Apparently, this researcher was wrong. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, kids!
Robert Plants symbol is the circle with the feather in it. It is the symbol for the father of Ma’at, the Egyptian goddess of fairness and justice. It is also the emblem of a writer.
John Paul Jones’s symbol is the circle with the 3 intersecting vesica pieces. It symbolizes a person with confidence and competence.
John Bohnams symbol is the three intersecting circles and it symbolized the man-wife-child trilogy.
Sandy Denny’s symbol is the three triangles. The only thing we know about it is that it’s an old sign for the Godhead.

Not for nothing, but the astrological symbol for Saturn is like a lower case h with a little squiggle on the right and a line across the top like a t. From what I can tell, the ornate Zoso has nothing to do with wither Jupiter or Capricorn.
