Zovatol for Weight Loss: Is it Effective?
63As millions of dieters turn to fat burners and appetite suppressants to help them lose weight, drug manufacturers create dozens of combinations of herbs and synthetic drugs-most of which that haven't been approved by the FDA. Zovatol is available in the American market as a thermogenic drug, a diet pill designed to boost the metabolic rate and burn fat as a result.
How Do Thermogenic Diet Pills Work?
Thermogenic diet pills work by increasing blood pressure and heart rate so that the body is simply working harder as circulation increases and the heart works overtime. This is the same reaction that occurs during intensive exercise, but artificially increasing the heart rate in this manner can be very dangerous.
Zovatol contains powerful ingredients that create this effect, and the combination of natural stimulants and caffeine can create the desired effect. Zovatol contains the following ingredients:
• Green tea
• Caffeine
• Yohimbe
• Capsaicin
How Do the Ingredients in Zovatol Encourage Weight Loss?
Green tea has long been used as a dietary supplement because of its antioxidant properties. Green and white tea contain polyphenols, a natural substance that many nutritionists and researchers believe can support weight loss.
Caffeine is a stimulant that can increase energy and provide a natural boost. Since there is so much caffeine in Zovatol, dieters should not drink any coffee or soft drinks containing caffeine during with the drug.
Yohimbe is commonly found in today's leading diet drugs, and may help improve mood. It is a powerful thermogenic agent, and can have a significant impact on weight loss as a thermogenic supplement.
Capsaicin is an extract derived from red pepers, and some studies suggest it has a positive effect on the metabolism. Capsaicin extract is often used as a dietary supplement, and is included in Zovatol to enhance the effects of all of the other herbs.
Who Makes Zovatol?
Zovatol is manufactured by Zovatol Industries of Naples, Florida. The proprietary blend of ingredients was developed as an alternative to Ephedra-based pills, and although the website states that the company produces Zovatol under strict FDA standards, many people can misinterpret this as having approval by the FDA. The disclaimer on the Zovatol website does state that "... statements and products shown on this website have not been evaluated by the US Food and Drug Administration."
Bottom Line: There is very limited information available about Zovatol, and the drug has not been approved by the FDA since it contains only ‘natural' ingredients. The ingredients in Zovatol are designed to burn fat, but no research is available that proves that this special combination of herbs produces these effects. Green tea supplements, capsaicin, and even yohimbe are often taken independently by bodybuilders as part of a deit program. However, with limited information on the overall effects of the combination in Zovatol, taking the drug is still a risk.
Anyone interested in losing weight should take precautions with drugs and dietary supplements. Zovatol is just one of many thermogenic ‘fat burners' on the market, but it has limited scientific research behind it to support its claims. Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and choosing wholesome and nourishing foods in a daily basis are essential to long term weight management.

Your understanding of the ditary suppliments is very impressive and you make a good argument for thier use. I don't disagree that they can and do work to lose weight. However, there is another issue that no matter how effective and safe the product is, it still does not get to the underlying reason why we gained the weight in the first place. The problem becomes keeping the weight off.
I have found that people who struggle with long term weight gain (more than just 10 or 15 pounds) fight a battle not to eat even when they swear to themselves that they won't. They deal with a constant nagging urge to eat. That urge is what I have found called their Food Monster. For long term permanent weight loss, someting has to be done about that urge or they will find themselves looking agin and again to effective but temporary help like you describe here.
