What is Zumba Fitness Dance?

Zumba is a poplar new fitness program that is based on Latin dance styles. It was originally founded by a Miami-based choreographer named Alberto "Beto" Perez.

The fitness routines use Latin dance styles to provide aerobic exercise with cardiovascular health benefits.

Some of the types of Latin dance used include:

  • Flamenco
  • Merengue
  • Salsa
  • Mambo
  • Rumba
  • Cumbia
  • Reggaeton
  • Calypso

How to Do Zumba

If you want to do Zumba, you'll either need to purchase some instructional DVDs so you can learn to do it on your own, or you'll need to find Zumba classes in your local area.

The DVDs are very popular, and over 30 million have been sold to date. They're inexpensive, and relatively easy to find.

If yo'd prefer to take classes, it's estimate that there are currently over 9000 Zumba instructors around the world, so one should be available in almost any urban area.
