I am back at it again making event concepts to inspire you and I am especially excited for my new creation. I have chosen the world famous story of Alice in Wonderland. I am sure you landed on this hub already knowing about the story but in case you don't I will sum up the idea of the story for you. It is about a young girl named Alice who is watching her sister read a book and becomes very bored looking around. Suddenly she sees a white rabbit go by wearing a coat and carrying a watch!. She follows it down a rabbit hole and falls very slowly down a tunnel lined with curious objects. She lands in a long hallway lined with locked doors. She finds a little key sitting on a glass table and that is how her journey all begins. She runs into alot of mysterious characters and each have a story of their own. She does some whimsical things throughout the story to get herself around. The story is very interesting to both children and adults therefore I decided to come up with a concept to help you get started with your next big Alice in Wonderland event! This theme I saw at weddings, birthdays, night clubs and even a Halloween party so as you see the theme really goes with any celebration. If you are one that wants to be outrageous and different this is the ideal party for you.

I put together many of the small details that will bring the reception room all together. When thinking of where to start I took into account the story, the scene and the characters. I would suggest to read up on the plots online as well as watch the movie. And speaking of the movie, keep a watch out as I hear March 5, 2010 a remake of the famous story is going to come out in theaters! I am very excited to go see it.

Here is a listing of the characters you may like to look into:

  • Alice
  • The White Rabbit
  • The Mouse
  • The Dodo
  • The Lory
  • The Eaglet
  • The Duck
  • Bill the Lizard
  • The Caterpillar
  • The Duchess
  • The Cheshire Cat
  • The Mad Hatter
  • The March Hare
  • The Dormouse
  • The Queen of Hearts
  • The Knave of Hearts
  • The King of Hearts
  • The Gryphon
  • The Mock Turtle

Now lets get started! First I have chosen red, white, green and black as the color palette for the table however everything else can be fun and bright such as the really unique table accents I have presented in my photos. Believe it or not those are shot glasses with wonderful flowers placed inside. We have shot glasses on our Bella M Events site that can be used if you can not find any. They are clear shot glasses and you can add colored water to them if you like. Alot of the small details are from my site as I want to show you how you can spend less to make the party extraordinary. The table setting I created from a tool I have. I wanted to switch up the standard white table linen and go with a fun design so I picked out Raspberry stripe. For the napkins I went with solid black and for the chair cushion I went with olive green. I also wanted to stem away from the standard china, stemware, and flatware. I like the unique designs for each. The china is a Orleans design which makes it fun and whimsical, the stemware is tinted all purpose goblets which really makes it feel like your in another world since it is not often chosen and flatware is called Ballad that goes perfect for that Alice in Wonderland tea party setting. Putting each of these designs together does not frighten me, it makes it more fun when you switch things up! For the centerpiece I would go with large topiary with colorful butterflies and even Alice in Wonderland characters added on top such as the Cheshire Cat! A local artist can create card board pieces to add them. The topiary would also match the unique seating card holders we have on our site. Next I would have the shot glasses around it with unique flowers and tea-lights glistening around them.

For favors as well as additional accents you can add to tables in the room are listed in our photos. They are pretty self explanatory. You can choose to use the bottle openers at the bar or as the favor as well as the coasters. They both work well as accents and that nice thank you gesture for attending. Also as additional effects at your event, I would get a smoke machine to make it feel like your guests are entering an adventure of their own. I also would try to look into hiring people to dress the characters part and walk around your reception. It would be a nice feature where your guests can interact and take photos with them!

Last but not least is the wonderful finale cake! You can really go any which way you like with this one. I love the cake I have displayed, it works great with the Mad Hatter character. Also the colors and the design all match to the theme.

I hope you enjoyed reading my ideas and this has inspired you for your Alice in Wonderland theme! Attached is a link to our shop as always have a wonderful time planning your special event.
