DIY Wedding Favor- GREAT IDEA ENCLOSED!
62I know times are rough right now and the last thing some of us want to do is go for extra expenses so I decided to come up with a unique and inexpensive Thank You favor for your guests that you can do on your own with hopes to save you some money for your special day.
Flower in a Can Favor
Materials you will need: Food Cans, Soil/Dirt, Flower Seeds, Stationary, Ribbon, hole puncher, Ball Point Pen
How to create: We all go food shopping don't we? Well lets make some use of our dollar by saving those food cans for your wedding/ party favor! Clean them out good and remove the original food label on the can. What is under the label should be a simple silver or bronze metal. I know cans come in many different shapes and sizes but that is okay. It only means each person gets an original! =)
Next, you can go in your very own backyard and get free soil/ dirt, Heck you paid for your land. You can take it! (hehe). Fill the cans up. Then all you need is flower seeds. Wildflower Seeds 1000+ Low Growing which are very inexpensive. Prepare your favors in advance. You want your flowers to grow before your event but you do not want them to be in full bloom as you want your guests to enjoy growing the flower or flowers themselves. You can choose to put a few seeds or one seed. Depends on the can but which ever you choose they will surely look great!
Finally, you want to to make your own personalization label for the cans. You can make them over the computer or if your not too computer savvy then you can do hand crafts. Run to your local dollar store or craft store and see what kind of paper you would like to use, whether simple solid colors or patterns. This will be used to cover the can. The label if not created on the computer can also be made with regular printing paper and personally hand write your message. Next you can wrap the paper around the can and crazy glue the ends as they meet. I would suggest using the place where the ends meet to be the center of the can so you cover the line up. To cover the line up I would suggest gluing your personalization label in the middle of the can and make it wide enough so it covers most of the line. You can leave some of it showing as you want your label to be smaller then width of the whole can. Before gluing the label though I want you to use your hole puncher to put holes on the end of each side of your label. When you glue the label to the middle, leave the edges free (only glue the middle of the label to stick to the can). Last but not least take your decorative ribbon that you have chosen whether you want to use the bridesmaids color you choose or just any pretty satin ribbon will do. and put them through the holes. See photo for a concept of what it can look like.
So basically that's it! Costs will only depend on how decorative you would like to design your cans. Here are some messages you can say on your labels aside from your names:
01-01-2009 We Grow as ONE~ Thank You!
Today we are planted in each others arms forever~ Thank You!
We picked our perfect match~ Thank You!
Best Wishes!
