CHINESE PHILOSOPHY - A UNIQUE SYSTEM
The Chinese People have a great culture and a wide array of beliefs.
Taoism, although not exactly a religion, is a system which involves philosophy and is a guideline for righteous living.
In this case I am not aware if the system of belief that I am going to discuss in this hub is part of Taoism or not.
Whatever the case is, following it would certainly bring benefits to YOU, to me, to him, to her, to them ... in fact everybody on this planet!
Here is how it goes. If someone grants you a favor, then YOU, the recipient of this favor falls into an obligation whereby you are compelled to grant one favor to ten different individuals.
When you accomplish this task, each of those individuals who received a favor from you is then faced with the same compulsion ... that is, to do one favor to ten different individuals.
TAOISM
THE VIRAL NATURE OF IT
Sounds familiar? Yes! If you have been dabbling in marketing online, you would certainly have come across viral marketing!!!
It is usually a question of signing up three, who in turn will sign up another three, and so on, such that when you reach level ten your ad or web page will be made visible to 118,098 eyeballs!
In the case of this Chinese concept, at level nine you would have reached nearly one sixth of the world's population.
Although in this case the viral element will not be of any benefit to you, since no products of yours, or any other factor which refers directly to you is conveyed down the line to reach the many participants and recipients.
However, you have performed an action which has "set the ball rolling" which will result in thousands and millions benefiting, although there is absolutely no commercial value annexed to your act.
Although you cannot be traced and there is no need for that either, you have initiated something good!
THE GREATENESS OF THE CONCEPT
This certainly is a great concept. Without any doubt at all.
The fact that the capacity to do one favor to ten different individuals becomes a qualifying factor to be a recipient of one favor is what makes it all the more interesting.
An involvement is required on the part of the individual concerned, the recipient, in turn, by the compulsion of the concept, becomes a donor.
So, I would suggest you highlight the fifth paragraph on this page and print copies and keep them with you.
They would come in handy when someone asks you for a favor!

The Chinese Language happens to be the most spoken of all the languages in the world, with English taking second spot.
There is a massive interest in learning the language this decade and thousands have made heavy inroads into mastering the language.
The initial fright experienced is caused by the fact that Chinese words sound totally alien to the speaker of English or any other European language.
However, if you start off with a good base, you can progress a great deal and rapidly too.
Once you have grasped the basics in pronunciation, the grammar is just a piece of cake.
Mind you, there is hardly any grammar compared to the other main languages.
Thousands who have used interactive computer software, DVDs and videos have reached very high levels in relatively short periods of time.
Surprisingly, self study has been found to produce appreciable results when compared with classroom attendance.

Some Chinese are atheists because they don't have a strong concept of a GOD in their systems.
However, I like this particular system of theirs.
Thanks for commenting, CountryWomen. :)
I had a friend in MS and she told me that her parents followed the budhist traditions but in her generation it wasn't encouraged to spend time on religious books. She was more like agnostic since she believed in the culture without the back ground religion associated with it.
Is Taoism widely practised even now? Btw I did enjoy your conversations with Mark in atheism rules forum...hehe
Hi CountryWomen.
Most Chinese are ethical although they do not bother too much about religion.
Taoism is mostly about wisdom and ethics, and most people practice Taoism without even knowing it !!!
That forum on atheism is cool, and good fun too :)
Thanks for your visit, Country Women. :)
Thanks for the information. Though I am Chinese I had no knowledge of Taoism as I did not attend a Chinese school at all. The concept described is good, but I do not think it is practical. To return a favour unto another person is difficult enough for some people, let alone to ten others. It is idealistic, but impractical.
Hi Einron,
It certainly is impractical. Especially to find ten people who are in need of favors which fall into the categories you are likely to be able to handle. Quite apart from that, there is also a saying that if you help a man when he is in trouble, he will seek you the next time he is in trouble. It is very unlikely that in the meantime he has been spending time looking for ten people whom he could help!
Since you are Chinese, I am sure you are proud that a good thing like this has been brought to the world by your people. :)
Thank you for your valuable comment. :)
