Some people want to know more about spray tanning. What is it made from? How does it work? Is it safe? I will answer the most important and most common FAQs.It’s always nice to have that nice sun-kissed glow. Everyone wants to be darker especially in the summer. Well now people are getting their fake tans by any means possible. People can be tanned all year with all the new tanning methods available.Besides tanning lotions and gels, the best way to get a fake natural looking tan is by going to a tanning booth at a tanning salon. A tanning booth is a small sealed booth enough to fit one person. While you are standing in the booth a gentle spray mist squirts your entire body from different directions. This takes only a few minutes then you are out. After that you need to give the tan a few hours to darken

There is also the airbrush tanning which is done by a trained technician that uses a mist spray gun to spray the formula evenly all over your body. It is up to you whether or not you would like to wear a bikini or not.

Most people chose to wear a bikini to get a nice tan line but there are others who don’t.  When you go to a tanning salon it is your choice to choose between tanning in a booth or airbrush.  They both give good results. You decide what you will be more comfortable with.

So how does this miracle spray work? Well the active ingredient in all tanning products is called dihydroxyacetone (DHA). The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approved DHA as long as it is applied topically. If you are using a booth, there are some precautions, the salon should offer protective goggles to protect your eyes and you should also be careful not to inhale it. Remember it is only safe when applied topically.

DHA works by penetrating into the outermost layer of you skin called the epidermis. While it penetrates it darkens your skin with help from your dead skin cells. DHA doesn’t work passed the epidermis and as your dead skin cells begin to shed off the tan goes along with it.

With good preparation before a tanning session like cleaning and exfoliating your skin and good maintenance it is possible to preserve a beautiful tan.
