Achillea The Pearl

You can place the pearl as a focal point in the mix of your perennial garden, or you can do what I decided to do. Let it stand-alone so you can admire the butterflies that it will attract nearby your patio.

The Pearl of Any Landscape!

It is a full sun perennial that produces 24-36 inch mounds of stunning white blooms late spring through summer. You need to be in zones 3-9 for this magnificent shrub to thrive. It will establish itself quickly in the space you provide for it. It can almost become invasive if you don’t take care to cut the plant back during the blooming time. Be sure to cut only when majority of blooms are fully open on the shrub. When you do cut from the pearl you can have a brilliant white bouquet of cut flowers in a vase or an arrangement of dried flowers that keep the brilliant white color exceptionally well.

The pearl can grow up to 3ft tall and as much as 6ft wide. It needs to put in well-drained soil to survive. Be careful not to over water. The best tip I have for this beauty is use miracle grow moisture control potting soil mixed into the soil you place the plant into. This will ensure that when you do water the plant it only gets the amount of water it needs and will prevent root rot.

Problems you should look out for when taking care of achillea the pearl would be powdery mildew, leaf rot or root rot. These can be prevented by allowing proper airflow with the plant by cutting it back at proper times and not over watering the plant. These problems can also be treated with proper fungal applications. Just be sure you use the proper treatment for your particular problem. You might also run into problems with spittlebugs, aphids and scale.
