There seems to be as many types of acnes as there are modes of treatment. Some are based on ethical products while some have been handed down through ages from mother to daughter. Whatever might be the case, one thing is sure that there are quite a bit of misunderstandings on the topic and since the ailment has never been proved fatal, none delved deeper into it. Acne treatment is thus not a very easy subject.

However, if acne is to be treated, then there first needs to be an understanding. Acne is basically a health condition that needs to be treated, though many believe that this is quite natural and should thus go away naturally. Also, there are about three categories of acne, namely, mild, moderate and severe. The fact is, acne treatment should be different for each category.

As for the mild type, washing the affecetd area (mostly face) at least twice daily with tapid water and non-deodorant soap will help control the infection to a great extent and check acne scar removals. Sometimes, this is all the acne treatment that is needed. Applying a cream on the area following the wash will ensure destroying the bacteria on the epidermis. But remember, no miracles can do the job overnight and here patience is the keyword to cure. Yes, a lot of patience is needed in acne treatment.

The moderate stage of acne is far from moderate. In its full fury, moderate acne takes the form of blackheads, whiteheads, comedones, etc. covering almost half the face that calls for a dermatologist's attention. Here the acne treatment consist of a light therapy as also a treatment of antimicrobial or retinoid cream to ease the situation. But no steroid should ever be used at this stage of the acne tretament as it is bound to aggravate the situation. Needless to say, people are more scared of acne scars than the acne itself, and so the earlier the treatment starts, better the prognosis. When the acne has reached this stage, it calls for acne treatment.

Acne in its severe stage has to be treated by an experienced medic. Along with oral antibiotics, doctors recommend intramuscular injections of corticosteroids to control the spread of the infection. Besides, surgical intervention is often required to prevent deep scaring. Acne surgery includes proper drainage technique and saving of tissue from turning color or ultimate formation of permanent bumps all over the face. One of the biggest hazards of acne treatment relates to controlling the hormones that get secreted in adults as compared to those that are found in adolescents where medications need to be changed totally to match individual conditions.

However, modern dermatolgists are amply aware of the different health conditions and so can do a proper job of acne treatment in all its stages. There are some very fine medications too that has made acne treatment a relatively easier job.
